Christians cannot marry two or more wives but why can muslims and other religions like mormons can marry as many as they want as long as they can provide him their needs? What's their belief of having two or more wives? I'm not against muslims but I just want to know why they need to have multiple wives?

from your question, they dont "need" as much, one will always do. but then to give u a backgrounder of having multiple wives, 1st & foremost its prevalent in the bibles main social life especially in the old testament - before we add carnalistic & emotional value to this situation, lets try answering questions why is it an accepted social norm on countries that allow it? 1. its a known fact for political affiliation - women in this parts of the country do not have much rights as men do (most middle east countries) 2. for physical reasons - being the first wife cant bear children or less of it (this is a know practice in some parts of asia & very much in the old china) 2.(sadly) like money, having more wives is a show of power (some parts of europe - balkans - up to now this a very accepted practice) now in relative to your questions basis - love & morals - having multiple wives will not bear good for siblings as it creates a natural unnecessary rivalry but even so life in itself is far more complicated. loving one, marrying only one - is the greatest that a man can show affection of any one individual. btw...u'll be shocked more how husband in icy regions reasons for havin multiple wives

Yes,i think it's unfair for the wives. I'm sure they don't get the love they deserve.

I think most men would want to have more than one wife but most women in the world know that they are every bit as good as any man and deserve to be loved solely, everyone in life should be equal regardless of gender....

yes,a persons life isn't something you can buy. it appears to me,having multiple wive is not a sign of love but a sign that they can buy a person life with money to fulfil their needs.

Hi I can never understand this. If we were supposed to have more than one wife, then when GOD made Adam and Eve, he would have made Adam, Eve, Jean, Sue, Mary, etc etc so that he could have lots!! But..... HE DIDNT DID HE

yeah you're right but muslims don't believe in adam an eve. Maybe that's the reason why they can marry more than one wives. As for christians they can't marry more than one because a man is only for one woman. I'm a christian so I don't support their belief of having two or more wives.

Every religion has got its own importance. We being hindus ,christians, muslims, jain etc cannot say that the other religion is wrong. muslims have got a certain kind of rule and they follow that all the religion does have some rules and everyone follows that. We must just learn to co-operate with each other thats what is important.

i didn't say it's wrong...but I just want to know the reason why they do that? Can they still love their wives equally? I don't think so....

I know the discussion is about polygamy in general and particularly with muslims, but the discussion starter did make a mention of it, so I'd like to clarify something. Officially, mormons outlawed polygamy a long time ago, and anyone caught practicing it is not officially a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. That said, I've never understood the idea of polygamous relationships and having multiple wives. I have a hard enough time with one-on-one relationships. I can't imagine what it'd be like with more than one girl to care for and lavish attention on.

its very sensitive issue.........but if we see then it is also right and also wrong.........as it will depend on the situaltions and altogether if they hav no problem then its ok.........but if we are doing it for some wrong purposes then its a very big sin in the life.i mean if we are helping in this way till then its good but males have no right to betray women.as they also have their own life........n they shud be given equal opportunity..........

I think thats reassonable to have a leagle wife instead of roaming around with several girls. Its too simple if you look around the world the women are more in population than men and obviously if a man is allowed to marry a single lady the rest of them are left with a choice to either marry an already married man or to become a con girl inorder to meet her physical needs.Which one do you suggest is better way, ofcourse to marry an olready married man.....

well i think having many wives might mean they are rich... (im not sure) since in their law is that they can only marry more than one if they can afford and provide for both wives and kids. I guess maybe its a status symbol or... or... maybe they are imitating kings who have plenty of wives in the old days...

Islam suggest us to marry one woman, that is better to keep good and pious with god. However Islam allow to marry more than one to a maximum limit of 4, but without any proper reasons it is not good, if It cause problems with existing family and if he could not maintain equality between them it is not allowed and Quran warn such acts: If one marry more than one and do not keep peace and equality between them Paradise will be forbidden to him. And divorce is allowed in worst cases only, God is angry at it even it is allowed.
