Fake Paul McCartney?

Roby Yonge, a WABC disc jockey who knew he was about to lose his job, used his overnight radio shift to spread rumors about the "death" of Paul McCartney in 1969. That we are seeing now as Paul McCartney is a fake one. There are clues which tells us that the true Paul McCartney was already dead because of drag racing. With that huge nighttime radio signal, which easily covered 30 states, this was an embarrassment for the station.

There is no doubt that it was a hoax. But for a moment lets assume that it wasn't a hoax. Then, why on earth did the Beatles leave clues for people to pick up, for something they had done as a cover up act? Doesn't make much sense.
