I had the Mirena IUD for 2 years after my son was born. I loved it as I had no problems with it. I was able to check the strings to make sure it is still in there correctly and my periods got really light. I think the IUD was the best contraceptive I have tried and I totally recommend it. The only danger with IUD is that it may peforate into the uterus but it is very rare. Also if you do get pg while having an IUD it can be an ectopic pregnancy. Again this is very unlikely.

I had an IUD once, it last two weeks and it had to be removed from my stomach, the pain and discomfort was horrible from having it inside of me, I would not recommend it to anyone.

IUD is birth control because it does not prevent conception, it prevents and controls birth. IUD creates a low grade infection in the uterus and a fertilized egg cannot implant in an unhealthy womb, so it passes through, so an IUD is really an early abortificant. Many women conceive and some carry baby to term with an IUD. Contraception, such as a cervical cap, prevents conception.

I'm on IUD. I'm into my second year now. So far, i have not experienced any side effects. My gynae explained to me clearly how safe IUD is and he recommended the copper IUD. Mine however, wasn't made in china. It was from germany. But still, i don't know if there is a difference if an IUD is from GERMANY or CHINA or anywhere else in the world. As long as it is certified! *wink* All the best! - Lyn
