I believe that the important thing to remember is that the people ruling this nation should be, at least basically, representative of the populations. Our ruling party is the combination of many ages, and I believe this is important. Youth brings fresh, new ideals. The young of our nation (which I am) are ready to take the world by storm and make everything better. The older generation is used to the way the world truly works. They are cognizant of Adam West's famous quote, "there is no such thing as a free lunch." They understand that you cannot always be on the far aisle, that sometimes you must help others if you wish to be helped. Honestly, politicians are like a group of high school boys trading whatever cards happen to be the craze at the moment. "I will vote on your bill if you vote on mine." That is also important. It is impossible to do anything in this nation if you stand on your own. We are a place where majority rules (unless we are electing a president, go figure!) and that majority rule must be respected and even courted by politicians who wish to pass a certain legislation. Additionally, the wisdom of the older generation allows us insight into the things we have only read about in history books. There is a completely different atmosphere when a person is participating in the decisions as they occur. Hind site is 20/20, as they always say, and the tried and true ability operate under pressure is one of the most valuable assets the older generation of politicians has to offer the newer generation. In retrospect, no, I do not believe they should step back. In reality, this is their country too.

Do you honestly believe that the younger generation would not be more corupt if they had the oppororutnity? There are simply less of them than in possitions of power. Additionally, the younger generation has proven itself to have higher crime rates than that of the lower. On top of that, this is America. Our largest population, the baby boomers, are moving into retirement. Are you honestly suggesting that the largest segment of the population should have no representation?
