I love to drive however i never got the hang of a manual transmission cars especially during traffic and hanging roads... so i switch to automatic transmission and GEE its HEAVEN!!! How i love automatic, its like a dream come true for those who cant drive manual... Though sometimes i get teased that i am not a REAL driver since i cant drive manual... so i was thinking i will try again one of these days... how about you, which do you prefer to drive? why?

I love manual cars.....that's all I've ever driven, however, for practical purposes I think my next car will be automatic. But that won't be for a long, long time(hopefully)!

I have driven both, but with all the traffic that they have around here I drive an automatic. A manual transmission is just too much work with all the stop and go.

Automatic transmission - Automatic transmission in a Ford vehicle.
Automatic transmission on cars is definitely better, easier and mor comfortable. It means less work and stress in car! When I get my license at the end of the year, I will just be going for an Automatic license and perhaps later on learn to drive a manual just in case I need it for, for example when I go to Europe where many cars still have maual transmission.

I've never driven an automatic car before. I love driving cars with manual transmission. It give me more power and flexibility specially when going uphill. I feel that I'll get bored when I drive an automatic. Maybe I'll get sleepy because all I got to do if I have to drive an automatic is to step on the gas pedal and the breaks. On the bright side, I think driving an automatic is less tiring since you'll only use one foot.

I prefer to drive manual transmissions as you have much more control over the gears and engine, for me its more fun to drive than an automatic.

When I'm city driving, it's better to drive in automatic transmission. No need to think of shifting gears, especially when you're stuck in a traffic jam. But when I'm travelling long distance, especially when there are lots of hills and steep climbs, I'd go for a stick. You have better control over your speed.

For city driving i prefer the automatic because i can concentrate more on the traffic and the pedestrians. For highway driving i like the standard or as others call it the manual shift. It seems to be more activity to keep from getting bored. Take care Abbyey.

i know how to drive both manual and automatic transmission. Automatic transmission is really better and very convenient but may be expensive on gas. Manual transmission on the other hand is so-so... My car is a manual transmission so I kinda got the hang of it. Better than no car at all.

for beginners like me, my father said that the best is to opt for cars with manual transmission. In that way you are training your self and once you are an expert, then you can switch for an automatic one. PS: But please, in a man's culture, only women opt for automatic transmission. Guys like us should drive with a manual one to show our power and strength. Women *sighs* all you know is to step the gas pedal and work your way to the traffic like ballet dancing.

automatic all the way. Years ago was dating this guy and he took me on interstate and was gonna teach me how to drive a stick. well u don't shift on interstate so he let me borrow the car to get to work and I was turning a corner and wrecked I don't even remember what I did wrong but I skimmed a telephone pole. I wasn't hurt bad but the car wasn't in really good shape. I've never driven another one and won't LOL give me automatic anytime!!!!

I’m still not driving but I think I would prefer an automatic transmission to manual. I tried learning how to drive using a manual transmission but I’m really not successful. So I often hear from my dad, my brother and my husband that it’s a lot different and a lot easier if I’m using automatic. And they have told me how easy it is to drive using automatic transmission so maybe when I decide to try to learn how to drive again, I would definitely try with an automatic car.

I currently drive a manual car and there are days that I love but there are also days that I hate it, mostly during traffic jams. I believe that manual cars are a must for cars that are built for speed since you are able to control when the gears change, and automatic cars are for those days that you're just too lazy to think about driving. Although manual cars have save me a couple of times from falling asleep on the road......
