Do you think it is usefull to have a lot of images in or posted to your blog? Do you think it makes your blog load slower for some?
What do you think?

I have been to blogs that almost never load right. Some graphics that are huge or have links to chats take longer. It is getting better. I do enjoy looking at blogs.

The blogs that I go to frequently don'y have an over abundance of pictures which I'm sure slows down the load. I like to go to blogs and read their relevant content rather than view photos. That is not to say that I don't like the occasional photo that has reference to the discussion posted on that particular blog, it just means that too many photos if not added just right can clutter the content. Just my thoughts...:)

I understand. I have been to blogs that over did the graphics and had the cursor full of junk too. It is cute but it gets OLD.
Thanks for adding. You got a + for replying.

The main problem with graphics making blogs load slowly is because people host there images on Image shack which is an over used image hosting site. I use a site called image pile which doesn't load the graphics so slowly, this helps.
A lot of graphics pisses some people off however so bear that in mind, but I like my blog with all it's graphics it makes it mine.

I don't use Image Shack. I like to go back and see my photos. I have a account with Photobucket. They seem to load good and I have lots of pictures there.
I love seeing blogs that are more personal. You can see a person and who they are before adding any comments.
Thank You so much for adding. You got a + too.

I like a small pic on each post only when relevant - not large pics as they mess up the layout or slow the page. However pics do add a touch of clarity and color to blogs and when used properly with the right orientation and tags make it more attractive.

I agree if there is tons of graphics it takes a lot of time to load. If it takes that long to load changes are that I and probably a lot of other people are not gonna wait for it come up. So I think you should be choosy about your graphics.

I have left blogs that just don't load or take over 2 minutes. I don't have time to just sit and wait.
Thanks for adding. You got a + too for playing. ;)

My blogs are usually just text. I have no reason to add graphics just to make the blog look better. If there's a reason for graphics in a blog and they're not so huge that they take forever to load, I'll stay around, but too many blogs are loaded with so much garbage that it's not worth staying when all I want to do is read the posts.

That is true! I think some blog owners go nuts adding because they can. You learn something new and keep doing it. I know I am guilty of it. :(

Yes having a lot of pictures does make your blog load slower for some people.
I think that (unless your blog is a photoblog, meaning it's purpose is there for posting pics on it) one shouldn't have that many images on his or her blog because they make it harder to read in a way.

I like photoblogs. They are great. Usually only have one picture to load and very little else on page.
Thank You for adding. I always wonder how much is too much. LOL You get a + too.

Good discussion! This is also one of the core thing to consider for people who design websites too. "Too much" of graphics in one page could even make your visitors go away too actually. I think images are necessary in your blog posts (depends), but not too many in one post.

if you keep your images .jpg and .gif you won't have a problem with loading. very few folks have modems slower than 56.6k. most people have faster. it is when you have .bmp and .tiff that cause the problems with the dial up folks. there are even .gifs that are animated. audio files are to be avoided, as are video.

I agree. I mostly post mine in .jpg or .gif. They are the easiest to add or link from Photbucket. Thanks for the added info. You get a + too.

I like adding images in my blogs because it makes the topic much easier to grasp by the readers. Like, if i post about food - a recent recipe, kitchen discovery, of course i'd like the people to see what it is in the first place. But what i do is only put in the thumbnail - which is basically a smaller version of the picture (for those who doesn't know what a thumbnail is. ^^) then link that thumbnail into the full (bigger) version of the photo. =)

That is great info! I don't think I have ever used a thumbnail before. I should try it. I know photobucket offers it. I gave you a + too.
