That midday nap may have more benefits than simply giving you extra energy. Research suggests that it might reduce your risk of death from heart disease by lowering stress levels.

I don't know about lowering the risk of heart attacks but I sure know that it helps this Nana to cope with the rest of the afternoon and be able to entertain her babies after our lunch nap break! And yes I can see that by reducing stress because I am tired in the afternoons that it makes sense that it could reduce the risk also.

I seldom take naps during the day. I can see where this might help. I recall there was a way to take a 15-20 minute nap, it is called a power nap I think. I find that if I get enough sleep at night, I don't need additional rest. I think it is most important to guard against stress in the first place. If there is much stress in your daily life, some changes might be in order. I can't see living a daily life of stress and then trying to compensate for it. I would much rather eliminate the sources of stress or react to the stressful situations in a positive frame of mind.

Well, thats good news. I nap most days, after lunch. Unfortunately though, it often affects my ability to fall asleep quickly at night.

I love naps. I sneak one in whenever I can. If it means that I am doing something good for my health, maybe I will quit sneaking and just head off for a nap.

I'm glad to hear that. I love taking naps, or better yet, just sleeping all day till I don't even have enough time to take a nap.

LOL aaaaahhhh. naps. *sighs* actually my work and sleep schedule is usually so off that by the time most people are laying down for naps, i'm waking up to deal with the world. However, my wife used to take naps when our son did, but she doesn't anymore. If she takes a nap during the aftenoon, she can't sleep at night. My son is the same way. if he naps during the day, it's harder to get him down at night. But this is good news otherwise!

I take an hour nap almost every day and it really helps me to feel better and to cope and get through the rest of the day and eveing until bed time. It does reduce my stress.

I believe the midday naps help. I have been having trouble with my sleep for about 2 weeks now so I haven't been sleeping at night or in the durning the day. But before I was a believer in a midday nap. When I woke up I felt ready to take on the world.

If I take a nap in the middle of the day, I just feel terrible when I wake up. I feel grogy and icky. I hate to take a nap. On days that I do not take a nap, I feel much better.
