One of the best ways to watch out for identity theft and keep your financial house in order is to regularly check the information in your Credit Report. Here's a Squidoo Lens called Free Credit Reports Online, http://www.squidoo.com/free-credit-reports-online/ Find out how to get your credit report without buying anything or signing up for anything.

hi, i just started this same conversation last week! i have a site that costs absolutly nothing!!! its at annualcreditreport.com and you can get all three-trans union, equifax, and experian once a year for free. i just do one every three months, and then i keep an eye on it all year for free. you don't have to give a credit card or anything.

Yes that's the same site I point to in my Squidoo Lens. That's the site that went up after the government required the reporting agencies to make free reports available to consumers. See my Squidoo Lens for info on how to get your credit report by phone or mail also.

It's not about how good your credit is... it's about making sure the info is correct.

not very often....probably once a year. I know I should much more often than that. quite a while ago, if I got turned down for a credit card, I would request it then...but I am no longer trying to get additional cards so that doesn't motivate me. I know I just must put it on my calendar every few months to check it out.

Thanks for the information. In Kentucky where I live you can put a PIN Number on your credit report through the Attorney General's Office for $10. No PIN Code+No Credit for you.

That pin code is a good idea. I don't think you should have to pay someone to protect YOUR data though.
