What bothers you?

Does it bother you when people tell you that you are getting old? I think that many people do that just to see if they can get you mad. I look at it as a compliment. They way I look at it, the older you get, the wiser you are. What about when people tell you that you are just a kid? I have to admit, this bothers me. Some people think that just because you are younger that you don't know anything. I think that is far from the truth. There are many young people that are very smart. Sometimes being called a kid can be a good thing, depending on what it is that they are talking about. How do you feel about it? Do those kind of things bother you?

That does not bother me if someone tells me that I am getting old. Well, everyone does is getting older. So there is no reason to be sad when we will get old. it is a celebration because we still live here on earth. And we have given more times to enjoy earth.

What bothers me most of all is certain family members telling me to grow up. This means having a job all year long, supporting myself, keeping the roof over my head fully paid for each month, a family of my own, and maybe a pet. How much more grown up should I be if I already own a home and keep it monthly by paying mortgage, have a catering position that based on assignments keeps me working eight and half months of every year (been with them since 98), decided against procreation because of a darn cyst and I am 40 so kids, bah humbug and last but not least supporting myself as a writer! If someone else tells me to grow up I will scream, oh that is the immature behavior I adopt that gets me told to grow up. See how useful your article post was already for me, thank you so very much. sharing the light, erica

it doesn't bother me because it's true that we go old. it's only on how we keep ourselves fit and healthy that could disguise our real age. just let those people say it, they will also come on that stage of life. take it constructively.

It bothers me when people think I can't do something on my own. I'm a very independent person and I like to figure out things on my own and do things on my own. I will ask for help but its only after I've tried every possible thing I can think of. I guess I'm just too stubborn, but if I figure out things for myself I get a great sense of pride and accomplishment!

Well, when I was younger (in my 20's), it bothered me that people thought I looked like I was 15 but I also thought that the good side of that is that I'd look younger when I was older. I'm so glad that's the way I chose to look at it because I'm now 48 and I have a lot of people say that I look like I'm in my mid-30's. Actually, after I lose some weight, I will look even younger. How nice! Since I feel good about myself, I don't really worry about what other people think.

It does not bother me when people tell me I am getting old. the way I see it, I am the only one that knows what is ahead of me. In fact, I beleive that the older I get, the better it will be. There are so many things I want to do in this world, that I just cannot seem to get involved in now. Whether it be due to my career, maintaining a relationship, being young, etc. I am always trying to look on the bright side of things. It can bother me when someone calls me a "kid". It really depends on the context in which I have been called a kid. I have always been told I carry myself in a way that does not represent my actual age. It bothers me when people say I don't understand something because I am just a kid. When in actual reality, they never took the time to really get to know what type of things I have exeprienced. That irritates me more then anything.....

I totally agree with ya..... Infact wen i'm neglected as a result of my young age n all,i get totally furious and sometimes might go to the extent of humiliating the same person for wat he had just told, though this is the rarest of occasions!!!

These things don't bother me at all. I am someone who gets least affected by people's opinion because I know who I am, what I am and what I'm worth. I just take these remarks in stride and respect the person's point of view. People have different views and I can't make them think differently. Maybe if the remark comes from someone who is really important to me or one that I revere most, only then would it matter.

I tell people i came into this world being fed mashed food and having a diaper changed every few hrs and when i hit 40 i am going to start regressing in my age so when i hit 80 will be fed mashed food and have a diaper to be changed. I also tell them gonna live long enought to be a burden on the kids and the pension plans. I am sooo loking forward to that date. If nothing else they do not bother me abotu anything after that.

I am turning 23 soon, and same as you I hate when people come and say "ey, you know what you're really acting like a kid"..or "ey, you do think like a kid"... those are simple disgusting comments I'd rather not listen to.. but if they go and tell me "ey, you really look like a kid"..well, that one is acceptable and I'l' take that as a compliment.. :P other than that, please spare me... :P

For 6 months now, I have been seeing a doctor on a monthly basis, for some issues that have been getting worse. Since he can not determine what the problem is he has decided that I am just getting old. And I need to learn to live with it...I m not old I am on 42 an dI resent him telling me this. So yes it bothers me when someone tells me I am getting old. Safe Hugs Patty
