will someone please tell lakisha to cover her body up!!!
she should be embarressed the way she shows her big arms and chest like that has she no respect for herself or does she really think she is sexy lol. i am a woman that is also overweight and i can tell you i would never in a million years dress like that. plus i have no clue how anyone can say she sings have you really listened to her she screams. melinda needs to show her a few things. like how to dress and sing. i also dont think this season is half as good as the past. how they got picked is beyond me. this is no singing contest its popularity contest. sanjia is still there so that alone is proof enough. well thats what i think what do you think?

I don't have any problem of the way lakisha dressed. I think that what she wears looks beautiful on her and that she loves herself for dressing like that.
She's a really talented singer and her perfomance of last night was very good..

i really didnt like the long dress though.. but her other dresses were appropriate for a show like that... queen latiffa dresses the same way... i think they look good and not really trashy as compared to someone who dresses like paris hilton... :)

Modesty PLEASE! Everyone, no matter what their figure is should dress modestly and not show so much cleavage. Have some respect for yourself and leave a little more to the imagination.

I personally think that Lakisha is a great singer and I do not think that she is showing to much. if a skinny person were showing twince that much I am syure that u would feel different. She should be proud of herself and over who she is!

I guess I should watch American Idol more often now.I don't think I saw this one.lol..but what she decides to wear we don't have a say in it. It is her choice and if she feels good in it I guess we should let her be..;P

What does it matter how a musician dresses or how big or small they are? It's not a miss America contest or anything. Besides, if I were famous I'd dress however the heck i want =P.

I actually don't think that Lakisha looks that bad, there was one week where I didn't agree with her outfit though, she had like an orange top on with a mini skirt (Simon gave negative comments on that as well). The most important thing is that she looks confident up there and appears to be confident with her look, that will probably take her places.

Lakisha carries her weight very well and I think she looks good.
I don't care for people talking about other people. I think it's wrong to talk trash because the way they dress or look. I think it's jealousy thing. It has to be because Lakisha isn't ugly and I think she dresses the way she wants and it's beautiful.
I'm not a Lakisha fan, I just don't like the choices in music she sings, but she is a good singer, just not my type. I am voting for Chris Sligh.

Are you serious??? Lakeisha is absolutely gorgeous, and she looks great in her clothes. Why would you say that she has no respect for herself just because she chooses not to wear moo-moo's? Do you think that the other girls on the show have respect for themselves? They dress just as provocatively as Lakeisha does. I think it's such a disgrace to analyze and determine a person's self-respect based on their appearence. There is a difference between classy and trashy, and she is definitely classy. By the way, she is an amazing vocalist, right up there with Melinda.

LaKisha has a very beautiful, lovely face and a voluptuous body to match. It is not up to you or me to decide how the contestants will dress, and so far LaKisha hasn't had a wardrobe malfunction as Katherine McFee had last year when she exposed her panties. She is a young woman, and admittedly she is heavy, but other than the orange top with the mini-skirt that she wore on one show her attire has been entirely appropriate for what she is doing.
Bearing her arms and showing cleavage is not considered at all provocative in this day and age, especially for entertainers. Her hands and face are also pudgy. Should she wear a veil and gloves to cover them as well? Remember, she isn't singing in the church choir. If that was the case, I would tend to agree that a more modest style of dress would be appropriate. But not here.
She also has a beautiful voice. If you think she is screaming then you might well be tone deaf because that woman can really sing. Listen to how Randy describe her voice, as "BIG" and that it is, but she definitely does not scream. I haven't heard her hit a sour note, yet.

Lakisha is so so so great singer!
So i dont care about her body figure coz she doesnt uses her arms or tummy to sing...
She uses her voice and heart!
So Go Go Go Lakisha though Melinda is my favorite of all!
hehe But i love them both!

It's hard to tell how Lakisha really feels about herself. She may dress that way for several reasons, but only a couple of times have I been shocked by what she was wearing and other times I just haven't really paid as much attention to her clothes as to her voice. I think last night was her one performance where she wasn't so much screaming, but had more balance to her voice and more control.
I love Melinda though. That girl has got it going on. And I agree with you that this season isn't as good as past seasons. I'm also still wondering why Sanjaya is still there.

I don't think that Lakisha is lacking in respect for herself, I think that she is celebrating what God gave her, the way she dresses is her preference and she shouldn't be ridiculed for it. In Africa, large women are celebrated as a symbol of wealth, and viewed as beautiful beyond words. I'm not trying to come at you any type of way here, but just because you don't dress the way she does, doesn't mean that she does not have the right to. She's her own person and should be treated that way. If the woman wasn't in the spotlight, I'm sure no one would care. Just my two cents.

I think we should not put too much emphasis on what Lakisha wears but what she can do as a performer and entertainer. The girl can sing and american idol is a singing competion. Now, I admit, there was one night I did not care for one of her outfit choices but once she began singing all was forgotten.
I know we all have our opinions but let us not be so critical of others. And it is so amazing that with a name such as yours, you would speak and respond the way you have in regards to another individual. Just my opiniion!

I did not see any problem with the outfit that she was wearing. She looked very nice to me and this is a singing competition and not a fashion competition. I have been people on the show wear worse outfits, like Haley did the other day with the dress that was short and was somewhat revealing at the top. Lakisha is probably the best or one of the best that is on the show right now. Melinda is very good as well so it may come down at the end between those two ladies. This year has definitely not been as good as in previous years. Sanjaya is by far the worst singer and he should have been voted off, which makes he hope they will change the voting system next year.

I was under the impression that the contestants were not free to choose their wardrobe, makeup or hair style. I believe they have behind the scenes experts who decide these things, so if LaKisha is showing more skin than you believe she should, she has signed away her rights to make these decisions for herself.
As to whether or not a heavy woman is viewed as voluptuous or vulgar, I think is a matter of personal taste. She is obviously comfortable in her own skin and probably doesn't really care what we think about her attire.
As for her voice, I think she is very talented, and so is Melinda. It is just unfortunate that LaKisha and Melinda are competing against each other because they are both exceptional singers. However, to me they all sound pretty good, except for Sanjaya. Can you hear fingernails on a blackboard?

I am watching the show, but I agree it's not nearly as good as other years. The last cut of sundance and the girl, she reminds us of Cher, were not right. And sanijia being in the final 12, give me a break, that's just not right. Not too many left appear to be idol material. I hope whoever gets it really deserves it. I agree lakisha can sing, she does get loud, and I don't know what to say about her appearance. She's not dressed to good at all but I did like the floor length gown better then the thigh length skirt.

Well I am not over weight and i hate showing my arms and I have always been that way,I don't know why but i have been that way forever..I have friends that are over weight like Lakisha and they wear dresses like that and just show them fat arms and don't think a thing about it...i sure couldn't wear something if i had fat arms...Last year was a good year ,i watched every show but this year just isn't to good to me...I have not really been into it enough this year to know much about it..
