I am a grandmother of two beautiful little boys, 1 and 3 years old. We live over 2000 miles away. I am wondering if there are any other grandma's out here in myLot who also live far from their grandbabies. If so, how do you make sure they know who you are? I do some fun things, but am curious how other long distance grandparents keep in touch and make sure their grandbabies know them over the miiles.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a 1 1/2 year old grandson, that lives in Tucson, AZ...I live in Oregon. It is about 2000 miles total. It makes me really sad sometimes. I really miss him. I do get pictures of him and get to talk to him on the phone. I also send little cards and such. I'm not sure what all to do as he gets older to keep him aqainted with "grammy".

Do you have a camcorder? At Christmas, my husband and I sat in front of the Christmas tree and read the kids a book about Christmas to them. It was fun to make the video and my son said the kids were glued to the tv. Micah will be turning 3 the end of this month, so we've decided I'll back a cake and we'll sing happy birthday and blow out the candles on video and send it to him. I think he'll like that. If you could do that, it would be fun.
On a different subject, where in Oregon do you live? I lived in Redding, California for 18 years, but now we live in North Carolina.

I've always lived a long distance from my grandkids, and that's fine with me. I'm not the grandmotherly type and seeing them once every couple of years is plenty.
