The best thing you can do is to spend quality time with God everyday. Redeem all the time you can of your a real busy person. Spend time in praising and worshiping Him. Take time to read and pray. Read the bible and devotionals, christian magazines such as Enjoying everyday Life by Joyce Meyer. Their free to get.
You don't have to be down on your knees all the time to spend time with God. Just praise Him and talk to Him like He right in front of you.Talk to Him while your working, cleaning, ect. This makes you have that personal relationship with Jesus. Let the Holy Spirit be your teacher.
Pray that God will lead you to a church where you can learn and grow spiritually. Don't follow man but God. Man will always let you down, God won't.

Tears are whelling up as i'm writing to say thanks so much for taking the time to respond to what i felt was an important question. Guess i needed to hear words of incouragement and to know that there are still people out there that know and love God. Thank you :)

To keep Christ as your example in all things. Remember He loves you as you are but wants you to grow closer to Him. You can do this by reading the Bible and praying. You want to pray to keep in contact with Him. As you learn more about God and His nature through reading the Bible, you will learn what it is to be a good Christian. It is a learning experience. God never intends that being a good Christian is hard, dull, or boring. He will help you with any problems you encounter. As you learn more about God you will want to share with others your love for God and His love for us.
