Do something --- anything --- before it's too late. Take up the issue to your department head, probably with a few colleagues who feel time-drained too. Determine if your team is short-staffed, or if there is an unfair load on you. Don't take on other employee's work (in part or whole ) just because you've been made to believe that you are much better at it.

Its we who have to decide the time allotment to our work and personal. It cannot be given into the hands of our bossess.Once in a while we can work late hours as only if the company grows we can also grow.Like you said in the topic if someone doesnot spare time to their family members the house will get collapsed. This is one main cause for divorce these days the survey says most employed people are filing for divorce.

I think many people get so caught up in their careers that they forget about having a real life outside of it and by the time they reach the peack of their career and are earning so much money that they can take time to actually enjoy it, it is often too late and they may have health problems aplenty which stop them from having the full quality life that they might have wished for.
Personally I believe in always having a good work life balance (the idea that you should have enough time to be able to work and to have outside interests and responsibilities for example time with your family). I am career minded and I aim to continue moving up the career ladder but not at the expense of my health of my home life. I have a few health niggles, but they are not caused by over-working and I have these issues pretty much under control. In my last job I was doing 3 people's work and I used to have nightmares about my job, so I thought with my feet and walked out of there into a better paid job with a sensible and manageable set of responsibilities. It was the best move I ever made - and I am very happy at work, which makes me happier outside of work:)

i had a job that was doing exactly this to me.
back to back long shifts-108 hours in a row before i got 1 day off-then they'd try to call me in.
i had no time for family, shopping for food, cleaning, anything.i was highly stressed and over tired.
i QUIT.
my family was more important to me.
there's other jobs.

That is a big problem in modern day life style, and the bad news is that its getting worse and worse as we march forward economically and technologically. Employers are more greedy, competition getting stiffer, people becoming insensitive to others....whole scenerio is a vicious cycle now. I guess authorities (Govt or corporate bosses) have a big role here...they should implement employee welfare schemes, programs diligently....conduct internal surveys, research on this topic and come out with appropriate solution...
