Do you go back to the discussions you have replied to?

When you reply at a discussion, do you go back after to see if people responded to your reply? Do you comment back? I personally like to go back and see what people think about what i said. I think it is pointless if you reply and then never come back since you wouldn't know what happened to the discussion or what other people think. It is called a discussion so it's nice to be part of it and not just answer.

I often go back to check if there are comments back to my comments. One of the things I like about this site is the "interactive" nature of it, and the way you sometimes can start up entire "conversations" as part of a discussion's topic. I also try to respond to most people who post replies on my own discussions.

the interaction here in mylot makes it more personal. most of us joined for the money but we stay because of the discussions and as you have said it.. the "interactive" nature of it. without that, mylot would just be a question and answer website and would be sooo boring.

Any discussions that I personal start, I follow-up on everything including my responses to people who have responded to me. In regards to the other discussions that other people have started that depends on how much that topic interest me. If it's a topic I really like to write about then I'm always checking on postings. I wish myLot.com would actually have email notification for people that reply to our postings just like when you start a discussion and someone posts for directly back to you.

what's nice about mylot is you're sure that there is a discussion for you. there is surely a lot that will interest you especially with the amount of information here. it sometimes even become overwhelming! what you noted is interesting. that would be a great feature. coz sometimes when there are lots of pages in the discussion, you can't seem to find your response anymore, and you wouldn't know if someone left a comment about it.

I always make a note of my number in those discussions that have more than 20 responses.

gifana, that's a great tip! so it won't be too difficult to search. never realized the responses are numbered.

I usually will go back for a couple of days to see if their was a reply to my response. If it warrants then I will comment back. I also try to respond to members in my discussions. I'm a little behind from the technical problems that I had here last week, but will get caught up eventually. :) I enjoy finding feed back on a response I gave, especially when it's about a personal experience that I have had. :)

I like it when people disagree with me and we can get into a spitting contest. I try to make postings that I know that there were people will disagree with me. On a couple of occasions some of the responses where so good that I had to change my way of thinking. I think this is healthy in a site like this.

when we post personal experiences, sometimes we just can't wait to tell more about it and we're just waiting for someone to ask or comment. i do find it hard to not log in to mylot everyday since responses come in very fast. just like this comment i'm writing right now. before you know it, responses are piling up. but it's just soooo fun to see people participating in your discussions. make you feel proud that at least some people feel the same way like you.

i agree with you that it is pointless if you reply and never come back to find out what comments you got, how the discussion was carried forward after your response. i do go back to check them out but not too often. lot of times i see my replies don't get comments and then i feel as if i've wasted my time as i got less time to spare for mylot. i go back when i feel that my response will definitely seek a comment or has so much value-added that it may be marked the best response. its just like that!

ratburn----I think that there are a lot of people here who, like myself, go to discussions with 0 responses and look for the earlier ones to see if there is an interesting topic that deserves to be put forward again. Sometimes the older ones are more interesting than the most recent.

gifana, same here. i also go to the discussions with no responses because sometimes it's more interesting and more worthy of a response.

i know how you feel. i seldom get comments on my replies and when you go back and see nothing, most probably no one will reply in the next few days. in the end, you just forget about it and never go back. i hope you get a lot of responses that will be marked the best one! good luck!

This is my 2nd day posting & I did go back to all of them to see if there was a reply. This will not be possible in the near future if I continue to post as much as I have. So I might check back in 3-7 days.

one word for you.. "woah!" this is only your second day and you have posted that much already! congratulations! with the rate that you're going, i also think you won't have the time to keep track on all your responses and if there were comments to it. good luck! you're doing a great job!

i'd wait a day or two. 3-7 days might be long and responses would be piling up at that time already.

I'm done for a little while to catch up on my posts to other discussions. I checked a bunch that didn't have any replies. How long do you usually wait to check for responses?

so far, i have commented on each and every single respond i have in this discussion. i think it's not just polite but i want to make you guys feel that i have read your response. i don't know if i can do this forever as i have already used almost an hour to do this. next time, i wouldn't have all the time in the world to do so. i just hope that others know that i'm listening even if i don't comment or respond. especially if it was a discussion i started, of course i read everything on it.

I try to. In fact it seems sometimes like I spend more time hunting down old discussions and checking things out, than I do posting to new ones. I love the fact that you can interact with people on here, and sometimes even get a good debate going.

a good debate makes the discussion interesting and alive. it's refreshing to see other views and points as well. makes you think outside the box.

I try to check the old discussions I replied to, but I'm sure I don't catch them all. If someone does comment on my reply, I usually comment back (unless it is just someone dropping their referral link for some other site, I hate that!).

i've been commenting back on all the comments in my replies in other discussions. still haven't had any problem as i have only a hundred posts. i can still keep track of it. i guess as time passes you can't go back to some of the discussions anymore, specially is there are pages and pages of replies already. it's just hard to look for your replied buried in all those replies! referral links are getting me crazy! it's confusing and floods the discussions. although some are smart because they find ways in incorporating those links in their replies. smart smart people.

I get notified on my e-mail whenever anyone responds to any of my discussions. So, in my mailbox only, I get to see what I wanted. Now, I do go back to the posts given against my discussion if I need to add any comment to any of those.

Yes, i usually go back to check if someone has commented on my reply. i get to meet more people that way and it also helps in understanding the discussion more in one way or another. i also go check on the replies to the discussions that i've started just in case someone posted something that needs my attention or my reply. =)

it's just that sometimes it's hard to go back to the discussions if there are pages of replies already. it's time consuming to find your response, and you aren't even sure if you have a comment or not. i feel compelled to reply to the responses on the discussions i started because what each person has to say should be acknowledged and recognized in some way. by replying, we make that person feel that their response was indeed read and valued.

some just don't have the time and patience to go back to the discussions especially if they have hundreds and hundreds of posts already. i hope that everyone will try to go back and check the discussions they've responded to. sometimes, something interesting comes up making the discussion lengthier and worth reading.

I do try to go back. If I liked the discussion, I will ASAP. I like to know if the person who started it, asked me something or just said TY. I try to reply to every discussion that I start even if it is just TY and I gave you a +.

if you don't go back asap, replies pile up! just like what is happening to me now. it's so hard to comment to everyone. i know it's not needed but i like to make them feel that i have read what they had to say. i hope you come back and see that i have thanked you for responding. :) for now, would just like to thank you and let you know you've been heard!

I agree, I do it all the time. Isn't a discussion like that, I mean, I talk then you reply then someone else chips in and you reply to her? Often, the only time I get a reply is when I say something outrageous, like black is white, then I get a response.

it is fun to sometimes give an outrageous reply, because it stirs things up. it spices up the discussion and makes it more interesting. it gives another angle to the discussion at hand. we just have to be careful not to offend anyone. but hey, at least we know somebody's listening.

I have gone back if I thought the discussion mattered or something I felt was important. I might go back to see what the person who began did or did not say about it. I dont do it ALL the time but a lot of the time!

i just started out with mylot so i still have the luxury of going back to all the posts i've made or checking my own discussions and replying to the responses. i guess after a while i wouldn't have the time and energy to go back anymore. would want to but there's just not enough time.
