Salman Rushdie was a great author. He was a great writer. Salman Rushdie, the winner of Booker's Prize of England is among controversial authors' in the world. He has been sentenced Jatwa in 1989 by spiritual leader of Iran, Ayatol1al! Khomeini. Rushdie was born in Born bay to a Kashmiri Muslim family. From his childhood he was inclined to western school of thought. He migrated to Great Britain and married writer Marion Wiggins, After that he became established writer. Rushdie's tales have raised some very real storms. h1 1989 his book Satanic Verses created world wide furor in muslim community. A fatva by Iranian leader was issued to execute him for blaspheming the Prophet and announced a reward of $ 2.6 million for killing him. Then Rushdie went into hiding in European country. After the storm of furor was settled to dust, he apologised for his writing anti clarified his position that he did not actually meant what was understood. Some of his well-known works are Midnight's children, Rome and Satanic verses etc. East-wast is a ,collection of short stories written during hiding and published in 1994. He has established a Writer's Resort in Himachal Pradesh for writer to visit and stay during writing work. He called it Writer's Paradise. Recently Rushdie has woven his own life into fiction novel. The book, called Fury was published in Holland. On the cover, Rushdie has written that the book is all about what fury can do to a person. I didn't entitle it that without reason. Rushdie has had good reasons to feel angry, because of the difficulties imposed by the fatwa and being forced to live in 30 different houses.
