Spicing up beef. Adding flavor. - What do you use to add flavor to your beef?

I tend to use onion soup mix alot when I want to put a little flavor in beef. I use it for meatloaf, hamburger patties and I even put it on my roast. I'm a bit bored with it and was wondering what all of you use for your flavoring when you prepare beef.?

Spicing up your beef is usually easier then spicing up your man! Have you tried season salt like Lawry's? For meatloaf I've found that if you use Italian Bread Crumbs (the cheap off brand are just as good as brand name) it adds a lot of flavor. My mom uses italian dressing mix and au jus packets for her roast beef, my mother-in-law uses salt and pepper and a large onion for hers ... both are delicious. I have a few friends that use butt rub on their beef, but I don't really like it! Good luck!

Oh that is just so funny! Thanks for the link. I was at a Pampered Chef party last weekend and one of the new spices was a Jamacan Jerk Rub. I think that would fall into the same catagory as the butt rub.

jamaican jerk rub - jamaican jerk rub from pampered chef
Okay, I looked it up. I spelled Jamaican wrong, sorry. Here's a description and photo. Sounds like a good rub. Jamaican Jerk Rub #9812 $3.75 A charismatic blend of traditional island flavors that's spicy, sweet and hot. Great on grilled meats, poultry and seafood! .

I like to spice up pot roasts in various ways, but one of the family's favorites is when I pour a cup of coffee over it, salt and pepper it, then put garlic and oregano on it. I sometimes make beef patties with a tomato gravy. Fry the patties and remove from the pan. Add flour (about a tablespoon to 2 tablespoons of fat) to the fat left in the pan and cook it while stirring until it's slightly browned, then add a small can of tomato soup. Mix it in well and cook until it starts to thicken, then thin it with water until it's a good sauce consistency. Return the patties to the pan and spoon the gravy over them.

I forgot to say that I used minced onion (I used dehydrated) to the pot roast also.

I use ketchup or a packet of spagetti sauce. But you might also try some taco seasoning or even curry powder for a change. Oooh, and mushroom soup from a can is absolutely heavenly with any style of beef.
