Looking for the right blog template is frustrating

I never have liked the look of my blog! I've changed the template 3 times since starting the blog last summer and have changed the colors to the template at least 6 times and yet I still don't like it! lol For all the bloggers out there, did you use a free template or did you pay for a custom one? I'm considering getting something custom, but don't really want to pay for it! My blog is in my profile. What can I do to improve it's appearance? I've asked this before and the responses were very helpful! Will you help me once again?

Hey, As I've mentioned before I don't do blogger so I can't really help you with that - but I just checked your blog out again - I'm not sure if it's just me or not but all I get is your header and sidebars - no matter which page I choose (by going through your previous posts etc) I get no actual blog posts (content) but other than that the actual layout in my opinion is good.

This is one of the reasons I'm frustrated. Occasionally I have this happen and can't figure out why! Hopefully it works now. Do you use Firefox? Sometimes my blog does something goofy and anyone with Firefox can't view the blog correctly. The blog looks fine to me, but I'll get emails from people telling me that one of my sidebars isn't coming up or that my content is gone! Grrrr! I don't drink, but sometimes it seems like a real good idea. Sigh.

LOL - another reason for me not to use blogger :-). Yes I do use firefox and I just checked it again and it worked fine so it's rather odd. As far as answering your question though, like I said I like the template (I myself have used a variety when it comes to my wordpress blogs) but you don't want to change it too often as people get used to a certain layout and can get annoyed if things change too often and they can't find the links they want etc.

Be careful of paying to change the look of your blog. That could make it even worse. Someone I know did this and her blog became unreadable because of the color scheme they put on it. If you have regular readers to your blog, be careful about changeing the look all the time. People tend to like a familiar look, and will get turned off and stay away if you keep changeing the look all the time, at least in my experience. Don't worry som much about it, as long as your blog is organized and readable. Most people are not that picky really.

Hey, i actually like the look of your blog AND your blog itself. I don't know if it's the look that you have finally felt satisfied about, because i see this discussion started about two weeks ago. But anyway, as i'm typing this now, i really like the look of your blog. I think it looks professional in a way, yet casual. I like it.

Thanks! That gives me a bit of confidence!!! A very successful blogger has agreed to review my blog on hers! She can be a bit harsh, but she's honest. I don't know what she'll say about my blog! Yikes! I want it to be information I can benefit from. Either way, it should bring me some new traffic. Her blog is: http://work-at-home-mom.blogspot.com/index.html and she makes over $4,000 a month on her combined blogging efforts! Pretty incredible.
