If you were Harry, would you be able to forgive Snape?

Do you think Harry would be able to forgive Snape for all the things he has done to him IF at the end of the book he redeems himself and saves Harry's life PERHAPS at the expense of his own? Would it be enough to make up for the things he has done like trying to make Harry's life miserable in Hogwarts, maligning his dad and killing Dumbledore who was almost like a father to him (even IF this was supposed to be part of plan to ultimately destroy the dark lord)?

I can understand where you're coming from. Its very hard indeed to forgive someone who has killed or even just hurt somebody you loved but I think that we're better persons if we learned how to forgive. Harry would certainly have a hard time forgiving Snape but still I think that in the end Harry would forgive him not only because he may have done something good for him or his friends but because it would have been what Dumbledore would want him to do.

I think if I was Harry and I found out one that it was all part of a plan to destory Voldemort and I had proof of it then perhaps I could at least not hate him. Now if he also did something pretty heroic like save Ginny (or one of the other good guys) especially at the cost of his life then I would probably forgive him. He did a lot then to earn it.

I'd probably do the same thing in the same circumstances. No matter how hateful the person is, if he saves you or someone you love you'd have some sort of debt to him. And Harry being Harry, he would no doubt honor that debt of gratitude. And Snape being Snape he'd probably hold it over Harry for as long as he can. By the way, thanks for the response!

No way. I would like Harry to kill off Snape and revenge Dumbledore. Snape has been a dark character from the beginning and has been with Lord Voldemort for all this time working from inside the Hogwarts. So he deserves to die with the rest of the crew. But, who knows, it might be a Dumbledore's masterpiece plan to send Snape into the enemy territory and turn the tables on the Dark Lord. Let's wait for the final installment. Cheers! Ram

LOL! You're pretty vindictive, huh? But don't you think everybody deserves second chances? Although I don't think Harry would be able to kill Snape unless he is provoked beyond reason. I think Harry's too good and nice to think of murder and revenge. And I don't think Dumbledore would like Harry to revenge him and kill Snape. Anyways, thanks for sharing your opinion.

Yes, Snape does seem to have a talent for telling lies. I guess its part of the job description for a double agent. *grin* Anyways, you're right of course everyone deserves a chance that's why even proven criminals are given parole right? Harry being his usual good self, will definitely give Snape a second chance. I just hope Snape would appreciate that second chance and prove himself worthy of it. Although, I highly doubt it.
