A new list of America's most popular buidings was released by The American Institute of Architecture. The results were determined by a poll of 1800 Americans naming their favorite 150 structures across the nation. I have listed the top 20 from the list which was released last month. Actually the list is comprised of famous buidings but also bridges and other structures. Do you agree with the top 20 list? Have you seen any of these buidings in person? Do you live nearby one of these structures listed? Anything you think is missing from the top 20? Have an interesting story about any of the sites? Any buidings on your must see list? To check out the whole list of 150 buidings go to the website www.aia150.org I have seen 13 of the top 20 and I must say that it is hard to choose my favorite. It would be a tie between the Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Veterans memorial, both very grand beautiful and very moving to see in person. In the summer of 1984; I spent 2 weeks in Washington, DC. I had the opportunity to see the following 1. The White House (1792)-Washington D.C. 2. The Washington National Cathedral(1990)Washington D.C. 3. Thomas Jefferson Memeorial(1943)Washington D.C. 4. U.S. Capital (1793-1865)Washington D.C. 5.Vietnam Veterans Memorial (1982) Washington D.C. 6.Washington Monument (1884) Washington D.C 7.Supreme Court of the United States-(1935)-Washington D.C. We also spent a couple of days in St. Louis over the Memorial Day Weekend and was able to see the 14.Gateway Arch- (1965)-St. Loius, MO This was a really cool discussion. It's a shame that no body had commented on it after two years. I think sometimes, they get buried if there are too many posted right about the same time!
