From what I understand, Vegans do not eat any animal products at all; this includes meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products. Vegans eat vegetables, legumes, nuts, soy, tofu, fruits, grains, rice. Vegans are very concerned with animal rights and environmental issues. Am I correct? I would assume that Vegans need to take vitamins to get the adequate amounts of B vitamins, Vitamin C, Calcium, and essential fatty acids, to name a few.

Wait a minute ... vegans don't eat ice cream, yogurt or cheese? Hey, does that include milk chocolate????? If you don't eat ice cream and milk chocolate are you a very crabby person? LOL! Seriously though, what do you do when you're depressed if you can't eat chocolate and ice cream?

I can eat dark chocolate. But generally I eat crisps as I prefer savoury things most of the time.

I do eat all of those things you are correct, but we dont' need vitamins as long as we eat a good balanced diet.

I used to think it was just you could not eat meat products such as ham, turkey, beef or any kind of seafood. Then I meet a guy who would not eat eggs because they came from chickens. He only eats fruits and veggies. I thought that was a little extreme since by gathering eggs you are not killing the chicken. It is something the chicken will produce no matter what.

chickens don't naturally produce eggs all the time. they have been bred to produce far more eggs than they normally would. Usually all the eggs would be hatched for chickens, not left around for us to eat.

Mostly, beef, pork and chicken with some fish? LOL. Just kidding. I really don't know what you eat, but I think I have an idea of what you don't eat ... The above mentioned items would be included in that list... but what about eggs or milk? I don't know if you eat animal products??

I always thought you had meateaters for breakfast, vegetarians for lunch (for dairy products intake) and a healthy sense of humour for dinner.

I am always amazed at the assumption that vegans are so 'limited' in their food choices. The way I see it, a non-vegan buys milk... a vegan has their choice of soymilk, almond milk, rice milk, oat milk, etc. And they all taste great! Vegans have sour cream, cream cheese, rice and soy cheese, plus the entire range of 'fake meats' like soy sausage or 'fakin bacon'. Myself, I flit back and forth between a vegetarian and vegan diet... I eat mostly vegan most of the time, but I'm pregnant and i LOVE cheese... rennetless of course, and hormone-free... I don't like most of the fake meats so what I usually eat when vegan: amaranth, rice, corn, barley, dried peas, beans, squash, green leafies, peppers, tomato, pasta, dried fruits, fresh fruits, 'healthy' junk food like non-hydrogenated potato chips, popcorn, vegan cookies, waffles, pancakes, just about anything really! Some kinds of soy ice cream, or rice ice cream, are really good... I also drink lots of juice, especially tomato. Yum.

I'm a vegetarian - can't quite get to vegan. Vegans don't eat processed food because food that has been processed can have bugs in it. Also it could have been processed on equipment that animal products were processed on.
Vegans it natural foods - vegies, fruits, special pastas and rice, a lot of organic foods, seeds, nuts etc.
Absolutely no meat, fish, poultry, seafood, eggs, dairy products, or honey.

I always wonder about what vegans eat actually. You people have very less choice for food. I guess you live on salad and fruits only. I don't know how you people manage your eating. I know for sure what you don't eat but I am not sure about what you eat.

Well as most people think... Vegetables.. But you also need a meat replacement. Like maybe tofu... I think you most likely eat very healthy... I can't really think what you'd eat other then those things and maybe a 'vegan burger' when you want to eat hamburgers hehe

My sister is a vegetarian, so I know very well what a vegan eats... Not that vegans and vegetarians are the same, I know it because most people think they're the same, and my sister had to spend a lot of time explaining... Vegans eat all kinds of food as long they dont hurt nature. They dont eat eggs for example.

Having read all the responses, what else can I say? It is obvious that vegans eat purely plant based foods. I used to think that becoming a vegetarian is easy. Just ditch the meat and you're a vegan. I was completely wrong. Now I realize I can never claim to become even a vegetarian, what more a vegan? I'll just stick to eating more of fruits and vegetables and enjoy other food as well.

My guess would be soya, beans, lentils, tons of veggies, quinioa, wheat proteins and so on. I'm not very familiar with vegan diets. I was vegetarian for a number of years, but I still ate plenty of eggs, cheese and dairy.
