Ebay sellers/buyers, have you tried to take it internationally?

Have you bought/sold anything to/from the international market? Was it worth it? Local market here is not worth much, seeing as we are only a small country with lots of bargain stores to choose from. So I'm thinking of selling internationally, but I'm not sure if its worth it either. So, any insights?

Hi, I am a powerseller from the USA. I ship to what ever country that pays. Even have shipped seeds to China & North Korea. I was wondering about N. Korea but I shipped it anyway & they got it. There is a lot of undelivered packages. So if you sell internationally expect some losses.

Thanks for the insight. Based from your experience, is being an international seller a lucrative business? Have you gained more than you've lost?

I recommend selling internationally. Especially if you don't have to pay a lot for shipping. Most of my sales are California, Texas, Florida, the UK & Australia. Anywhere from 15% to 50% of my sales are international. It all depends on the season. Definitely go for it.

I am an eBayUK seller selling baby nursery items, I sell internationlly but only for certain items in myshop. It's because the postage cost and insurance and the hassle is too much. I sell internationally only small items like clothing, comfort blankets etc.. But when it comes to big items like bedding set, cot, cot bed etc I only sell them in the UK. I think is really depend on the item you sell. Selling internationally meaning you have more chance to sell the items but you have to do a little research regarding postage cost and export import.Of course it's normally buyer responsibelity to handle those charges but it will be better if you can provide them with the information. So good luck for you I hope youfind the right decision..xx

Yes make sure you know the customs rules. A lot of the seeds I sell can not be imported into Australia but they still buy even with the big warning sign at the bottom of the auction. Some people don't care to check with customs to see if it were allowed.

I've sold overseas a few times. I must say I dislike it very much. I sit there biting my nails for months on end. There is no PayPal accepted tracking numbers for international mail. So even if someone got a product they could claim they didn't. They always will PayPal chargebacks. I once sold a $400 doll to Japan. It was worth opening it up to all countries because he was popular in Japan. But I freaked out the entire time! Now I do US Only.

I'm like coolseeds, I will ship to anwwhere as long as I get paid. I do charge higher rates for internationalshipping but that is because it does cost more to ship internationally. I try to get any kind of tracking that I can on the package but for some it just isn't available. Right now I am focusing on ebooks which are doing pretty well for me even though I only have about 10 titles available. Obviously with eBooks, the location doesn't matter because I just send them a download link. It works great for me. It is kind of a pain to get one auction set up but once it is all set up including my download page, I can keep relisting it with the touch of a button. Anyways, I know a lot of people who don't deal with international because there can be some headaches with it. IF you do go international, just be wary of anyone wanting you to ship it to Nigeria, as those are usually scammers.

I'm interested too but there are a lot of considerations to look at. For example, the postage price.

I am a small eBay seller & have sold many things to overseas buyers. I find myself buying a majority of things from overseas (mainly the USA & UK) coz since i mostly buy childrens clothing for my daughter & other family members but also to resell - i can get a much better variety from overseas. I buy mainly Disney items & here in Australia, the choice of things in that brand isn't very good. The buyer always pays postage anyway so you get whatever you're asking for the item & so it doesn't matter where it goes. There is a form to fill out here if i send something overseas but it's nothing major - i just have to state what's in the package & sign over that it's not dangerous! Good Luck!

No, I have not considered selling Internationally as a whole via Ebay. I have sold an Item though to someone in England once yrs. ago though. But overall, I think you would have to know the Rules, etc. to buy internationally, and I would rather just do it in the USA and know I within the bounds I need to be.

I have sold AND bought from the international market. As a matter of fact, my first international transaction was to Russia. I believe it was totally worth it. I've had very good experience with international buyers/sellers. Making your merchandise available to international buyers will increase your sales/profits.
