I came to know sometime back that the movie "MATRIX" was heavily inspired by a Japanese cartoon movie called "Ghost in the Shell" created way back in 1995. Critics have gone so far to say that even some characters, storyline plot in the movie has been copied frm GITS. What do u guys think ? does it take away all the credit of MATRIX being such a out-of-the-world story.

Okay. So Matrix was heavily inspired by those movies. Nonetheless, Matrix is Matrix, and although they claim that it is only an offshoot of those movies, Matrix still came out to be original to the sight of so many because of the difference in the execution in its production. I should say that this information has, in no way, affected my admiration for that film.

Matrix is not inspired, it's a copy. It's a well known FACT that Matrix is a complete rip off of many ideas, from cult classics, Japanese mangas, Superman, the terminator, Dark city, blade the Jewish religion and mainly computer programming. Despite this fact, this complete rip off was so well-made that no matter where the producers stole from, it has become a huge box office hit and one of the well known sci-fi action movies of all time. Funny how one could rip off people's ideas and become rich for the rest of your natural life. Good topic abhishekkaushik!

First of all, the Matrix the directors wanted to make the movie in 1996, so the script was written way back. second: Ghost in the Shell is nothing near the Matrix. There is no resemblance. third: wave you even see Ghost In The Shell?
