For your information, Ronaldo is going nowhere just yet. Sir Alex is flexing his muscles and the MU board is right behind him that Ronaldo is not available at any price. So the rumours are just that rumours and the next season you would find Ronaldo still in the reds of Man United. Cheers! Ram

I tend to agree with you ram, however, Real Madrid is desparate to find a good forward and Cristiano seems to fit the bill. However, I still think that Real Madrid is just making waves with the news that has been circulating today in the Spanish newspapers and television. Hopefully they are just spitting into the wind.

I know Real is desperate and when they get desperate, they usually get their man. But, here we are not talking about any small club on the other side. We are talking about Man U and with the Glazer money in now, they are in a position to quell any request from Real. Regarding the contract rules, I think due to the ongoing transfer bungs investigation, all three, players, agents and clubs are actually on the defensive and would be very careful this season at least before any contracts are changed. Cheers! Ram

On paper you may be right RAM, however nowadays, the rules and term and contract seem to be very easy to change as long as the new team willing multi billion on money to contra the contract.

Ronaldo can't moved as a free agent after this season due to his contract which ends not in 2007, He is not over 28 so he can't buy out the remaining of his contract like what lampard could do. So which means unless a team is willing to offer more than 50 million pounds which can move Man Utd's heart, then perhaps he will go. BUt then, i doubt any team will pay so much for him. :P

Cristiano Ronaldo - photo of Cristiano Ronaldo when he played for Sporting Clube de Portugal before being transferred to Manchester United
I live in Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo was form in my favorite team Sporting Club de Portugal, as was Figo. I read in the paper today that Cristiano has said that he is not in a hurry to leave MU....he wants to make history. He is in discussions with renewing his contract and says that things are going well. Another statement he made was that money is not an issue. He stated that the three most important things for him right now is his family, making history and then money. The assistant coach, Carlos Queiroz, who happens to live up the street from me, is very important to Cristiano and I'm sure that he will be very influential in Ronaldo's final decision. Since his father passed a way a few months ago, he has settled down and I feel that his playing shows it. Unless something extraordinary is offered I sincerely believe that he will stay in England for some time and only when he feels that he as made history in English football will he consider to move to Spain.

Hopefully what you said is true gifana. We all impress with the way ronaldo had played for MU and i still believe he still have a lot more to offer to MU. Therefore MU should keep this diamond forever.

I am hopeful that he may play his final year(s) in the Club that was responsible for his formation. However, I doubt very much that I will live to see the day. I am sure that as long as he can avoid serious injuries that he will surpass Eusebio and Figo as the best Portuguese footballer ever. I even think that 2007 will be the year that he is named European Footballer of the Year and the FIFA Footbaler of the Year. Of course I'm prejudiced...as if you couldn't tell. Used to love seeing him play in Avelade and he was only 16 at the time.

I honestly dont think he will leave Man Utd, he has a lot going for hime there, in terms of regular play. I think Ronaldo leaving Man Utd is just a rumor, I mean I have read in various press that he has said he wants to stay with Man Utd...
