i was just wondering different ways that ladies felt before they went into labor. i have heard of women who said that the night before they went into labor, they couldnt get any sleep from being too uncomfortable. then i hear others who have a surge of energy. with my first, i felt fine. the labor just started almost out of nowhere. i had the usual sharp shotting pains, cramps, and tiredness that i had been feeling for the past couple of weeks. by mid afternoon i started feeling that the cramps were getting closer together and falling into a pattern. so my labor came to me so unexpectedly, and i wonder if this one will be the same.

My son was born Feb 1, but everyone was hoping he would be born on the 4th, so his birthday would be 2-4-06. His due date was the 3rd. On Jan 31 I told my husband I really wanted Taco Bell so we went and ate some. I told him that would put me in labor for sure, but I was just joking around. We got home at like 5:30 or so. My husband worked nights, so I laid down with him. I knew I was having contractions but they didn't really hurt. When he got up to get ready for work, he went ahead and called the hospital after timing them. They said for us to go ahead and come in. This was Tuesday, and I was going to be induced the following Monday anyway, so they told us then that I wouldn't be leaving without my baby. We spent all night walking the halls at the hospital, but my contractions stayed steady at 4-5 minutes apart. I was dilated to 5 when I went in. My dr came in and broke my water at around 5-530 am. They induced me at around noon, since the contractions still weren't any faster. At around 3:30 I was ready to push. The nurse called the doctor and told me to start pushing. As soon as she turned back around from the phone, she told me to stop pushing because the baby was already crowning. I had my baby at 4:05. The doctor didn't even have both of his gloves on.

When I went into labor I did not have any of the "normal signs". I was lying in bed on a Thurs night and didn't know what to expect but I started to have some cramps. They continued but were mild, so I started timing them and they were consistantly 10-15 min apart. Well labor had begun I had a real long labor. I didn't deliver until Sat morning. I did not have the surge of energy, bloody show or any of these symptoms, though I kept waiting for them to come (SINCE I WAS 3 WEEKS LATE)

I have had two children and my prelabor experiences with them were very different. With my first child, I was getting really big and doctors were worried that I would not be able to deliver if I went much further. I had my membranes stripped in the office and was told that there would be a 50/50 chance that I would go into labor. When I got home I did not feel and different but a couple of hours later I was having contractions and it did put me into labor. With my second child, I started having contractions a week before my due date and had them for 3 days straight off and on. I was cleaning like crazy and just knew that he was coming soon. I went in for a c-section 2 days later and when he was delivered he was wedged far into my pelvic bone and was having trouble breathing. I think that i was in labor for those days and he should have been taken. He is fine now and had no complications but I think that my body was telling me that he was ready to come out!

For me I didn't even realize I was going into labor. I woke up at 3am thinking I was just cramping. My fiance is the one who woke up with me and got worried and called the midwife. Since this was my first baby the midwife told me this could go on for hours or even days and told me to just get some rest and call back if things got worse. So I took a bath and 2 hours later the contractions started coming on strong and fast. My fiance was right all along.

With my last pregnancy (my fourth), I felt "pinchy" for weeks. Every time, though, the actual labor caught me by surprise.

i went into labor shortly after my dh and I went out and had a huge dinner, so I thiught at first maybe I just ate too much, and then the pains got worse and more often, it was 9 days before my due date so my doc didn't think I was in labor when I called- well, I was and was 4cm when I finally went to the hospital and my son was born 3 hours later =) all in all, I didn't feel like doing anything, I was in pain and wondering if it was the real deal or not.

I went past my due date and ended up having a scheduled induction, so all I felt was apprehension. I don't intend to let that happen again!
