I homeschool my children. I do a combination of unschooling with some traditional schooling mix. Anyways each of my kids have something different that they want to learn about.
My oldest like animals and studies alot on different types and kinds. We are volunteering at an animal recuse this spring.
My son is into robots and is learning how they work. We are getting a kit to build one.
My youngest daughter wants to learn more about plant life.
So we are going to grow some flowers in the flower bed.
And we are going to take part of the back yard and plant a vegetable garden. The only problem is that I have never try to grow my own vegetables. I have read up on how to do it, so I am confident that I can and do a good job.
What I want to know, is people with experience in this, do you have an suggestions on growing vegetables? How do you keep wild animal life out of your garden? We have lots of rabbits, racoons and alot of small wildlife that hang out in my yard.
I know a family of rabbits live here. How do I keep them from eating what we grow?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

With rabbits you need a fence and it should also be buried a couple of feet into the ground. Chicken wire is good for this and a roll is not badly priced. You can step over a bunny fence. Racoons should not be a problem so I am wishing you luck. Start small and see what happens. You will learn a bit more every year.
