how do you keep cats from eating houseplants?

i wish she would stop, because i love my houseplants, she goes outside 2-3 hours a day, so she has plenty of green to get into out there especially since everything is in full bloom. anyone with help?

one thing that worked on mine was a squirtgun. they hated that more than they wanted the plant. another thing was getting them their own box of greens in-house.

go to your local pet supply store and ask them for Bitter Apple Spray. its non-toxic and taste bitter and yucky...spay it lightly on your plants. the cats will taste the spray and usually stop chewing on them immediatly. unless of course you have one of those oddball pets that like that taste! lol it does happen!

I love houseplants, but don't have many as my cats chew on them as well! You may want to be careful what kind of plants you have in the house--some common houseplants are toxic to cats. I know philodendron is one of them--I have those in the house but they are hanging high out of their reach. My cats are indoor cats, so I have a catnip plant on the lanai that they can nibble on to their hearts' content.
