My father, my oldest brother, and myself all worked for General Motors so my choice naturally is GM products not just Chevy's. I get a %15 employee discount so that's a great reason to stick with GM products. I bought a brand new 2005 Buick LeSabre in 2005. With trade in, rebates, and employee discount a $34,000 car cost me %21,000. Thanks for the discussion. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

That's so great! Not just the really nice discount but also having two generations work for them. I like other GM products too. They really do seem to be the most durable.

We're on the Chevy side. My s/o drives them til they won't drive anymore and parks them til he can fix them again. Right now he's driving a '93. It's not as "tough" as the older ones but it's doing pretty good. His "project" trucks include a 1979 4 door, a 1981 (technically GMC), a 1987, and a 1988 4 door. The 1988 just needs a door put back on (It was borrowed by the 1987 after I broke the tranny but that's fixed now). The 1987 one has some wiring problems. We have no idea what's wrong with the 1981. We think it just finally gave up LOL. The body's in pretty bad shape and flames shoot out the exhaust but it was a good truck. The 1979 needs a tranny (not my fault). We also have a 1975 Impala , a 1976 Monte Carlo and a 1981 Monte Carlo. My van is a GMC but the old one was a Chevy Astro Van. It got side swiped by a tractor trailer. It still ran afterward and no one inside got hurt except for a few cuts from flying glass. It wasn't drivable since the whole right side was gone including tires but I'd say it held up pretty well under the circumstances. The only Ford we've had (for regular driving) was a truck bought from a dealership. We had nothing but trouble with it and literally gave it back. They paid what was still owed on the loan and we never got another Ford. The only ones we have are strictly for dirt track racing. There's a couple 4 cyl. Mustangs and a Pinto. The only reason we used Fords for that is because the Mustangs and the Pinto fit the size requirements and it's EASIER and CHEAPER to find JUNKED FORDS!

I prefer Chevrolet. Like you said, they just keep on going, like the Energizer bunny. : ) The look of them, the feel of them when you drive them, is no way close to a Ford, and I have driven Fords. My first vehicle was a Chevy truck and it was a winner!

The hubby & I prefer chevy over ford any day. We both have chevy trucks but my 1994 is still running strong with over 234,000 miles and very few repairs other than routine maintenance. My brother in law prefers fords but I think that's only because he likes working on them .......all the time....... lol :)

Well not being in the USA, i'm not really in to the yank tanks :) - not a dig at anyone it's just what we call them coz you guys seem to like the BIG cars! I guess if i had to pick 1 though, Ford - but only for the Mustang! Here in Oz though, I'd never go with a ford - too common, & they lose value too quickly due to so many models being released!
