Okay. Here's my views on Auctions. I never cared for them till about 10 years ago. Since then my wife & I go often to them. many unheard of bargains can be had at auctions. So far we have bought a dining room set valued at almost $1,000 for just under $400. Our living room set, couch and love seat is valued at $990 we got it for $600. We have a beautiful bedroom set also from an auction. It's a king bed complete, large dresser with huge mirror, lighted and with shelves, smaller dresser, end table and the headboard of the bed is a book shelf with light. Retails for $2,500 bought for $625. We've bought 2 lazy boys for $90 each. Many smaller itmes like porceline dolls for my daughetr, toys for grandkids. I've bought many valuables old soins too. Also many boxes of "junk" for $5 or less filled with some often found valuable items. What kind of bargains have you gotten? Do you prefer auctions over Outlet Stores? How often do you go? Do you go looking for a certain item? Do you go as a couple or alone? Let's hear your adventures of bidding like a maniac. LOL
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

I really love antique shops and would also enjoy auctions, but I am not sure how to find out where and when they are..
I would like to go to a country auction some time and see what it is like if I can find one.
That would be fun..

I've been to a couple autions but never bid on anything being as I never had the money. I have sold numerous items at auction and those that I thought wouldn't sell high, did which surprised me. I usually hit the local garage sales and find great bargins that way. Our couch which I'm sure retails for over $1000 we bought for $40 but since it needed new cushions, we ended up paying $300 which still isn't bad. We bought a queen bed complete with lighted bookcase headboard and high quality pillow top mattresses, a rocker/recliner, 3 footlockers of romance novels (which I love), floor lamps, antique dresser (in excellent cond.), and misc. other stuff as a lot for a cool $400. They were leftovers from a garage sale the guy had and wanted them gone no matter the price. So, I may not go to auctions but I find great deals at garage sales. :-)

The only auctions that I do is ebay. My aunt & uncle go to auctions alot. They get some pretty neat stuff sometimes and at cheap prices. They have a store so they go to the auctions & buy iteams in bulk then sell them. I have been planning on going with them some time but just havent gotten around to it yet. sounds like you found some GREAT deals though!

I don't participate in auctions. I wouldn't know what to do, and lack confidence in bidding.
However, I love 2nd hand shops, including garage sales.
I have picked up some marvellous bargains. Many years ago, when I bought a holiday home at Penneshaw, I needed to furnish it. Absolutely everthing I bought from either garage sales or 2nd hand shops. This includes small items like cutlery to big items like the fridge, washing machine & beds.
