Do you think that pitbulls are as dangerous as the media portray them to be or do you think that the media is overdoing it a little? why do you think these things? Did you know that Pitbulls have an 83.4% passing rate in agression testing? and that there are several other dogs that actually are more agressive than pits? leave me a comment and you can also read more at www.associatedcontent.com/user/54674/rebecca.html thanks in advance for the comments and reads

no...i think that everyone just makes a little to much of a deal out of it. i think they are just treated wrong and they are trained to be bad animals.

thats true they are not by nature bad animals they have usually been taught this agression. if you show them love they will show you love as well.

It actually IS in their nature somewhat, but they can be trained to be obedient! I've seen both sides.

Actually it is not in their nature to be violent (i have been a breeder as well), they are actually good animals. if you think they are bad animals then you havent been around one that has been bred properly. they do as they see. just like children.

I think pits get such a bad rap because a lot of the time in the news the media dubs the breed a 'pitbull' out of ignorance. It seems like every time I see a news story they describe the dog as a '150 lb. pitbull' when in reality, pits usually weigh no more than 60 lbs, full grown. Every pit I've ever met has been the sweetest, most devoted dog.

It's unfair that pitbulls are automatically assumed to be bad dogs, it's their upbringing that makes them behave the way they do- whether it be good or bad. Sure pitbulls have the potential to be dangerous dogs, so does every other breed though. Unfortunately it's the pitbulls who have gotten the bad rep because they are the breed most commonly used as fighting dogs and people have done some irresponsible breeding in the past. With proper living conditions and care, I believe that pitbulls make wonderful family pets. I've heard a few times that an energetic pitbull is not a happy pitbull, they like to get lots of exercise and tire themselves out (just a little tip for people who are thinking about bringing a pitbull into their home or if you already own one).

yes they are very energetic and they hate to be left alone a lesson i learned the hard way when i came home and my couch had been torn almost to shreads, but they are very playful and love to have attention. mine even sleep in the bed with us as well as our jack russell. they spare no comfort. thank you for responding i appreciate your comment

It's not usually the dog to blame, but the breedin and the upbringing. Any dog can be dangerous. It has a lot to do with how they are raised. I've been around a few of them and they were very gentle natured. Breeding tells. Some breeds get a bad reputation. Talk to breeders and they will paint a different picture about this breed. I think the media needs to do their research.

i agree with you there the media hasnot done the research needed to portray the animal properly; and now alot of people seem to have a bad taste in their mouth due to all the negative publicity. and yes breeders will paint a different picture;as will the people that have the pleasure of living with such a dedicated animal. I love my two so very much and wouldnt trade them for anything.

I think Pitbulls are dangerous yes, along with chows and a few others. Some people say its the way they are treated but im not sold on that either.I had a chow dog..I raised him from birth,no children just husband and i and we was so gentle with him ,his name was "chowboy" and he was good until he got about 2 years old and he got really tempremental,he would growl at me when I would brush him,or he would look at me and his eyes were red and he looked mean, then other times he was sweet as could be..One day a friends daughter came riding up on her bike and "chowboy" knew her but she never touched him all she did was ride up and my chow attack her,it was horrible...So as much as i loved him ,I had to put him down,it broke my heart but i had small grandchildren and i was afraid after that..Pitbulls have attack many people and children and have killed and i just don't trust them.I just think that it is in their genes to become mean as they age..Its just like people some people are just mean by nature, and they can do a lot od mean things if they don't like you for whatever reason...I just do not like to take chances with anyone...

they can be if they are bred from fighters but if they are of regular parents and are taught love and affection they will be gentle. as far as children go if they feel threatened by them (like people) they will defend or protect themselves. if you do some research and find out where the parents are and about them you will find a wonderful animal. it all has to do with breding and raising. but i do respect your beliefs. thank you for your comments.

I have known people who had very loving, gentle pitbulls. If a pit bull is mean,it's because the owner taught them to be. I think it's terrible that pit bulls are getting such a bad rap!

I don't blame Pitbulls at all. I blame mostly the owners. There are tons of pitbulls living in the US right now who have never caused an ounce of trouble (and never will). We only see the "bad" dogs. Why don't they ever show statistics on how many "good" ones there are? I was also at an interesting "pick the pitbull" website a few weeks ago. There are tons of breeds that look JUST like the Pitbull! I'm sure some of the pitbull attacks are also a case of mistaken identity.

Pitbulls are able to be good, obedient dogs but it takes a lot of time and work. It is in their blood to attack. I know this because my cousins breed them and they've worked really hard with their dogs to get them to where they are...good, obedient dogs! So I know it's possible for them to be good dogs but it doesn't just happen. It really does take lots of work and time with them! I don't want to put them down because I love all animals, especially dogs, but I don't just say these things without having any knowledge about them.

actually it does not take alot of time dogs will act like what they see and are taught, They are not violent by nature by any means I know this because i do breed pitbulls, and i study there nature as a matter of fact my job to know this as part of the AKC. I study animal behavior exspecially pitbulls and from my study the ones that are violent have been left outside on chains in backyards never paid attention to at all. and the ones that were very gentle were ones that were your average family dog, very kind, a couple in colorado has had 15 pitbulls through out there life, never have they attacked or even tried to bite a person. so for those who are out here saying they are violent by nature you really need to have facts first and if your breeding them and there violent you need to change your rasing habits because your doing something wrong. i have done my research and im more than happy to share it with anyone who believes they are naturally violent.
