I heard about a product called ad-aware. Apparently you can download it for free online. They say that it makes your computer faster, etc. Is this true? Is there a product out there that is better for this? Please help. Thanks!

I also would like to let you know that the Spybot Search & Destroy that others have talked about also has nice feature that allows you to stop things that you do not want to start up when your computer turns on. This is mostly for advanced user but a very nice tool.
