Can anyone recommend a great historical fiction book? If so, without giving away too much of the plot, what was so great about the book? Please also provide the author's name.

Well, this is a favorie of mine. Though the historical part depends on your beliefs. It is a fiction book that looks at a religious belief in a historical context. Basically looking at the garden of Eden and adam and Eve, but not as biblical beings but more as prehistoric nomadic travellers. But it has some supernatural parts that definately make it fiction. LOL Anyway, Leaving Eden by Ann Chamberlin

Historical fiction seems like an oxymoron lol. Anyway, Even before the movie 300, I have liked reading "Thermopylae" by Ernie Bradford. It is, of course, about those 300 spartans led by King Leonidas against thousands of Persians.

This is more modern history, but the book Shining Through by Susan Isaacs is very good. It's set during World War 2. It's part romance, part spy story. It was made into a movie, but the movie doesn't do the book justice.
