An Estonian girl who is studying in Berlin, Germany started a designer bag renting business called 'Luxusbabe'. She got the idea from USA, there is something similar called 'Bag Borrow Or Steal'. She has three price categories: Babe - 29€, Glamour Babe - 49€ and Luxusbabe - 79€ for a month + shipping and warranty, 15€ both. She says she has a lot of clients and she makes pretty good money.
And now the question, ladies: would you rent a Gucci, Louis Vuitton or Prada bag? And if, then why? And if not, then why not? I wouldn't. Until I can't afford it, I do without. But of course, I'm not obsessed with bags...

I am and never will be a brand ceayzy person. If Ilike something and I can afford it I will get it ..not for the label.I have found really good bargains that look just as good as any designer thing and paid much less for it.

Absolutely. I find it ridiculous to rent a bag just to look rich. And what if somebody will steal the rented bag?

LOL... I'm so NOT label concious that I find it hilarious when people get all into a label as if it makes a person. I actually purchased an Ann Klein bag one time, at a garage sale, for 50 cents. I bought it because I like the bag, needed a new purse and it was in great shape.
The next day my sister, who loves to drop names and labels goes apes over my bag exclaiming "how did you get that?! it's an Anne Klein!!" as if I could never afford it. I laughed and went "so?" she goes.. "well YOU picked it out? how much did you pay for it? I saw that one at the mall the other day and wanted it but it was about $200!" I just laughed and said "guess i know how to get a bargain" and walked away. She was dying thinking that I had spent $200 on this purse that SHE had wanted so bad!!!!
Anyways, considering I paid 50 cents for a purse, I'm gonna say you're safe to guess I wouldn't be bothered to rent a big name label! LOL

Lucky you! Digging in garage sales and second hand shops maybe very beneficial, I have found many gems there also. Then I buy it, it's mine. It's great. But to rent something like that is too odd for me. If the ladies saved all the money they are paying for bag rent they would have soon enough to buy a bag. Anyway, I admire her business idea. She knew, there are a lot such people, and she found a niche.

I read about the US idea some days ago in a magazine.,,,and I think this girl was very clever doing it in Europe, too..I find it is a great commercial idea..I mean bags are a passion and women can do everything when in love with them..I am in love with Alviero Martini's bags and Gucci's and I am saving for buying one as a present for me...I don't know if I would ever have one of those rented bags..but I think there are lot of women who may need a special bag for a special occasion and this may be one of the easiest way to be well dressed without paying too much..or we may use it as a present...buy a ticket for this shop for a friend of us and give her as a present...mmm wonderful ideas....maybe someone is opening one of these shops here in Rome, too...if I had time, I would do something like this!!!!

Hi kiiizu. Renting bags? I have never heard of that. I would just like to say - "Who would want to rent a bag?" Is it like the fashionable thing to do nowadays? I'm sorry, fashion-wise I am terribly way behind. I would never though rent a bag just for appearances' sake. I would rather save money and buy a bag, even second-hand ones. That way I can proudly claim it is mine. Thanks and have a nice day!

Exactly! If I've bought it, it's mine. There are people who are borrowing clothes and accessoires but I don't belong to them. I just started the discussion to get to know what others are thinking about borrowing things. It seems we are mostly the same opinion there. OTOH, the people who are never borrowing things will never get an idea to make money that way.

You are so right. Good thing I am not a bags nor accessories person. I pick anything I can put my stuff in and that's it. As long as it's comfortable to lug around, it is fine by me :)
