Monday night,My husband and I went to See Flogging Molly at the Roxy in Atlanta. My daughter and her husband went as well. I actually introduced my daughter to Flogging Molly; I love Irish punk music and Flogging Molly is my favorite band! The Roxy was covered with people; you could not see an inch of floor. We sat in the balcony with the "older, saner" crowd, as I heard a kid say sardonically. The show started on time! Unheard of for rock and roll! The opening acts were eclectic and very entertaining. There was Rev. Clayton and his Big Damn Band, consisting of the Rev., his wife, and his cousin on drums; a Swedish punk band, and the Street Dogs, whose lead singer, I discovered, used to be with another favorite Irish punk band of mine, Dropkick Murphys. They were fantastic! But then, Flogging Molly hit the stage, and for the next two hours I was on my feet and dancing. And I am a woman of mature years; trust me on this, not everything gets me up and moving. But I forgot my years, and I was moving like a twenty-year-old again. Flogging Molly did all my favorite songs, and the packed audience sang along with every one. Dave King is such a dramatic, poetic, thoroughly Irish writer. His words tear at my heart at the same time they tug at my feet. "What's Left of the Flag," "Factory Girls," (my current favorite,) "If I Ever Leave This World Alive,"...every one was stellar and the crowd was loving it. "If this is what it's like on a Monday," Dave yelled, "what the --- is it like on a Saturday?" I don't know, but I'll tell you this..Flogging Molly gave me the best musical Monday I ever remember! Erin go braugh and Flogging Molly forver!

I saw them a few weeks ago in Los Angeles. It's the fourth time I've seen them & let me tell you they just get better & better. They sang "Factory Girls" as well (one of my favorites too) & it was just fantastic. But my favorite was "Whistle the Wind". Such a fantastic song & even better live. The first song that got me into them was "If I Ever Leave This World Alive" but everytime I saw them play it live it left me cold. They finally seemed to get it right. The whole band joins Dave a lot earlier now & it's just so much more effective. What a great live band. I can't wait to see them again!

Every morning this week since the show Monday I woke up with a different Flogging Molly song in my head. Yesterday all day it was "What's Left of the Flag." One day it was "Whistle the Wind." Today it's been "If I Ever Leave This World Alive." People were actually crying, including me, when they sang that song Monday night. They just put so much heart into it. I found myself mirroring his gestures, that's how into it I was, and I wasn't the only one. They are just fantastic.

I'm so glad you enjoyed their show! I live in upstate NY and I got to see them live at a local venue about a year ago. My cousin was in charge of booking them and making them comfy (or whatever you'd like to call it) at a local venue so I got to hang out with everyone and check out the tour bus. Then after, they came to my uncle's pub for some drinks! It was a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see them again.
