Women myLotters, are you burdened with too much household chores? What do you do to lighten the burden? Are your partners helping you out at home? Are they sufficient? How can we encourage them to chip in? Thanks.

Hi Syain. Burdened? Oh yeah. My Husband works out of town so I get the whole thing. My Daughter and Son In Law recently moved out and now there is only myself and my Son here at home which makes for a somewhat lighter load, but there is always something that needs my attention. With summer coming on, now there will be yard work and gardening to do also. I'm sure though that if my Hubby was here, he would help. As far as tips to help encourage others in your family to help, I've always just told them that if I can pick it up, so can you. It isn't foolproof by any means, but if you say it enough times, they'll get to where they will hear your voice in their heads if they even think of walking away and leaving that glass, backpack, or whatever laying there. I call it "subliminal nagging"! It works....eventually. LOL :)

I think that division of household chores is one of the best ways to lessen the burden. I'm thinking of creating a list and some schedules that the partner can easily see. That way, he will be reminded of the things that he should do everyday, on weekends etc.
