What is a Christian. What is it that makes you a Christian and sets you apart from other people? How does your belief affect your view of the world.

A Christian is a person that worships God and God only. A Christian is one that is: "Christ like", that is what "Christian" means. The other people worship themselfes and what they have. The world is fadeing away and will be destroyed and we will have a new Heaven and Earth. One where people understand who there God truly is.

If we are to have a new heaven and earth will it be an exclusive, Christians only club, or will there be room for others? I have found few Christians who were like there Christ.

A Christian is one that follows Jesus Christ not only that knows Him. A Christian knows its purpose in life and that it knows what the cost of living for Christ is. We don't care about the world but we care for it. A Christian should view everything with love for these sets as apart from the world. We love first the Lord and next everyone else.

Do you follow all of the teachings of Christ or do you pick and chose the ones that are easy for you? Do you know that along with the message of love Christ also taught some pretty hateful things and did some rather strange and irrational things.

I have some strong doubts as to whether there ever was a historical person who was Christ but that has been discussed in other posts by people more knowlageble than me so lets confine this to the Christ of the gospels. My response falls into two categories. The first is things that I consider hateful and the primary on of these is his obsession with hell. I, personally find the whole concept of hell to be abhorrent, an invention of man in an attempt to control the behaviour of others and scare them into a belief. Words placed in Christ's mouth such as, "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of Hell" addressed to people who would not listen to his preaching is to me, hateful and full of malice. It is not really, to my mind, the best approach to take. Another statement, "Whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost it shall not forgiven him neither in this world or in the world to come." This has caused a huge amount of misery in this world for all sorts of people who believe that they have committed a sin against the Holy Ghost and as a result believe that they will never be forgiven in this world or the next. A person with the proper degree of kindness would not put this kind of fear and terror in the world. Silly and strange, the account of the Gadarene swine. He was certainly not very kind to the pigs when he put the devils into them and made them rush down into the sea. If he was omnipotent, as reported, he could have just made the devils go away and left the poor pigs alone.

Are you a Christian? yes, I am. What is a Christian? A person who follows Christ. He entered into a relationship with God through repentance and faith and seeks to follow the Words of Christ. What is it that sets you apart from other people? Other people don't believe in God or in Christ. They have their own beliefs and non-beliefs. I found joy in my faith and it made me a much better person. Others may have found satistaction in their own belief system, to each his own. How does your belief affect your view of the world? Worldview is a rather broad subject, suffice it to say that I look at the world as a wonder of God's creation and sustained by His power. Men may not believe in God for various reasons but God will not cease to be God. I tried to answer your questions as short and direct to the point as possible. I tend to believe they are honest questions that deserve honest answers. That being said, short answers raise more questions but I found it necessary to just limit myself within the parameters of the questions asked. Cheers.
