What gadget in your kitchen are you unable to live without?

My fave kitchen gadget...what is yours? - The 5 quart crock pot with lil dipper

For me, its my crock pot. I made the investment several years ago of the big 5 quart version (and it came with a lil dipper crock pot too LOL) and have not regretted the purchase at all. It comes in handy so often when I know we are going to have one of those busy days and no time to really cook---just throw the ingredients in the crock pot and away you go for the day and dinner is done when you get home. Love this thing...now I want a BIGGER one (with a growing teenager and hubby, I need one LOL). How about you? What is YOUR favorite kitchen gadget?

My item is a hand held mixing stick. I can't recall the name but it has a mixing bowl. I can make "icecream" with just a little milk and frozen fruit. I can also mix up cake mixes in a bowl with ease. It was a birthday gift from my MOM a few years ago.

I had to go look. It is a Faberware. I know my MOM called it a "boat motor". Seems they use it a lot on cooking shows. If you get one, don't let the detachable mixing thing get wet. It seems to break. I just let it stand up on my counter but my MOM has her hanging up. She got them @ Kohl's for $20 on sale with all the extra included. It makes really good instant pudding. It turns out creamy just like store bought. I gave you a + back. ;)

I do love my crockpot as well...all three of them. I have two 3 1/2 qt ones and a 6 qt one. During the summer heat I will get all three out and have main dinner in the big one and a side dish and a dessert in the two smaller ones for example. Also great to get all three going when we have family get togethers, less time I have to spend in the kitchen rather than visiting. I use a crockpot at least once a week. Other than that, my coffee pot would come in a very close second. Gotta have that morning caffeine to function.

Here is a gooey family favorite dessert to get you going. Triple Chocolate "Puddin" Cake 1 chocolate cake mix 1 box chocolate instant pudding mix 16 oz sour cream 4 eggs 3/4 cup veg oil 1 cup water 1 cup chocolate chips In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix and pudding. Add the sour cream, eggs, cooking oil and water. Mix until well combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. Spray coat the inside of crockpot. Pour chocolate mixture in and cook on Low for 4 hours. This will look very gooey, like it isn't quite done, but stick with the 4 hours. Delicious served warm with a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream...YUM!!

Nothing in my kitchen beats my George Foreman Grill. I use it three to four times a week. I just cannot live with out.

I would have to say that the one gadget I couldn't live without would be my toaster oven. I use that liitle booger for so much! I roast veggies in it, make toast in it, make grilled cheese sandwhiches in it, bake potatoes in it, make muffins in it. It gets used at least once per meal! It is much easier and more thrifty to fire it up rather than the full oven!

There are a few different gadgets in the kitchen that I do believe I could not live without. I think it would be way too hard to just zero in on one specific kitchen tool. The can opener, my toaster oven, my blender my crock pot, slow cooker and my kettle I don't think I could live without. I would have a very hard time doing a majority of things that I usually do around here if I did not have access to those certain gadgets. They help me to put together every meal that I make for me and my other half and to lose them would put me at a severe disadvantage to cook anything. I feel like if I lost my can opener half the things I use in the meals I create would be ultimately lost as well. For example, if I lost the use of a can opener I could not make any of my chili. I could not get access to the kidney beans or the tomato sauce I would need to make it in the first place. Plus, if I wanted to have some tuna on toast I would not be able to get into the tin of tuna to even make the snack in the first place. Basically any snack that involved a can of something would be pretty much off limits then. I'd also absolutely want to have my toaster oven and I could not think of doing any baking or cooking without it. To go on without it would be extremely hard and I'd feel terrible because we didn't have the ability to cook and save money at the same time. I don't just cook dinner in that appliance either. I use it as well to bake cookies, cakes and muffins and to lose the ability to make treats like those for my other half and me, I'd be downright sad. I would miss the chance to make all these things. I could not be without a kettle and a blender in my kitchen either. I make these fruit shakes that are to die for. I put banana, strawberries and ice in the blender and I put a couple splashes of orange juice into it as well. I blend all of that up and it creates one heck of a thick shake that tastes great too. I will usually make these whenever I feel down in the dumps and after about half of one I'll begin to feel much better. I haven't been let down by these shakes yet and to not be able to make them on a regular basis would definitely be the biggest let down. I couldn't live without my slow cooker or my crock pot either. Both kitchen gadgets are so convenient because they help to save on a lot of time. When I just need a quick meal that I don't need to always be checking. I will turn to my crock pot or my slow cooker & I will put all of the items that I am wanting to use to cook my dinner. And I will allow this product to cook it for me & within a few hours I have.. A delicious meal that is full of flavor because all of the ingredients, along with seasonings have blended in so well together. I love how when I have a busy day of a lot of things to do around the house.. I can rely on my crock pot or my slow cooker to make my life a lot easier when it comes to having to cook a meal for dinner one night! The only other gadget I could not live without would be my electric kettle. I use it mainly to fill up my hot water bottle. I find it boils water faster than a normal kettle and like my toaster oven saves on energy costs. I like any appliance that will help to bring down the amount of energy I use here in this house. I would rather use an electric kettle than a conventional kettle any day because of all of the benefits it offers both me as well as my other half. In conclusion, those are the kitchen gadgets I could not live without. They all have a great importance to my kitchen and what I make in it. I really feel that if I didn't have any of those appliances and gadgets, my kitchen would not be half as much fun and not nearly as interesting to make meals in either! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

Gotta say the toaster oven. I use the microwave the most but I just love my toaster oven. I can reheat almost anything and it makes my favorite thing-- toast!!

Currently for heating and toasting food items, just gotta have my toaster oven. The next must have is an electric can opener. However you are making a crock pot sound awfully interesting. Who knows that might be a next must have...SS

Thank you for responding. I have to admit that I enjoy a toaster oven too...nothing and I mean NOTHING makes better grilled sandwiches. A crock pot is a WONDERFUL thing...especially in the summer or when you just want to have dinner ready when you get home without much effort. I gave you a +
