Has anyone adopted an animal

March 17, 2007 5:13pm CST
My sister has liked pigs for sometime now and her husband didnt know what to get her for her birthday. He went online and adopted her a pig from the local Zoo. At first she was very excited when she opened her adoption pack. Eventually she realised that she didnt have a pig at all(she doesnt even get to name it) just some paperwork and a ticket for free entry to the Zoo. Has anyone else adopted an animal?

I have not personally adopted a zoo animal. But from what I understand, the money that you give for adopting the animal does go for upkeep and veterinary for the animal. Some people have a plaque by the cage or site the animal is displayed at that says adopted by so and so. If it is a nice zoo, your sister will probably have a good time visiting. My son and his wife love the New Orleans zoo.

I think it did say something about a plaque with her name on it but it is only there for so long. I'm sure she will have a nice day out at the zoo. I prefer the tigers myself

I have never officially adopted any animals, but I take them in all of the time. I would rather keep them at my house than to see them abused or neglected. I also take in injured animals and nurse them back to health. I bet your sister was really disappointed that she didn't get the pig though. It would have been nice of them to at least let her name it.

It sounds like you really love animals - you must do if utake them in all the time. You are doing good work. She was a bit sad but she is planning to go and see the pig as soon as the weather gets a bit better. I suppose at least it is looked after well at the zoo by experts and vets - it does have a large run

I'm glad that your sister will at least be getting to see her pig soon, and that it is well cared for.

oh. like she can't keep the pig but will just have rights for visitation in the zoo? did i get it right? that's a bit sad. but atleast, she has a pig to take care of and think of very often. pigs are cute creatures actually. we used to have pigs in our yard. it's allowed to have here in the philippines if one has a large yard to keep them. i haven't had thought about adopting any animal with such kind of legality... i mean, papers and all. but i adopted a stray cat who lives with me now for many years... and for sure, turned out to be my dog's bestfriend. haha!

I have not legally adopted an animal, it doesn't work often here in my country but i did adopted a cat. Sometime in 1996 when my sister and i was driving home we saw a cat in the middle of a highway that was underconstruction. She's all wet and dirty and i asked my sister to stop the car to pick her up. The first thing i thought was to make sure she's safe from the vehicles unmindful of the sweet little cat. I named her ming and she now has more than 20 children distributed among my nieces and nephews. Having a cat like Ming at home is really something i would cherish until the time one of us is no more. Do u love cats the way i do?

I do like most cats but unfortunatly I am allergic to some of them so I could never have one in my home. My parents in-law have three cats and I am allergic to one of them but he is the cutest one so I usually give him a quick cuddle when I visit
