What is is the tallest living tree? where is it situated?

I'm not entirely sure what it is any more but it used to be a mountain ash in Australia (something like 500ft) but it was accidentally burnt to the ground when some government officials decided it would be a good idea to clear the area around the base of the tree which was removing much needed nutirents from the soil. They set fire to the bushes around the tree but sadly the fire got out of control and burnt the tree to the ground (or so the story goes). I believe the tallest may be another mountain ash in Australia but i'm not certain

The tallest tree is 112 meters high and is situated in california USA.
