Even at 5 years old my daughter believes some things her friends say and nit me. I dread to think what she will be like as a teenager.

I think they do because there is peer pressure and they tell their friends more then they do their own family and also they value their opinion because I beleive that is the youth of today.

Not all, i believe that there are those who are still listening to their parents and look up to what their parents are telling them. Its only in the way that parents grow their children. If they are cared of by parents then eventually mutual respect and love for parents and children will always be there. Friends are there to share too. Children now a days are more intelligent they know how to take care of themselves and they know what is right and what is wrong. But more so important is that even if its from your parents or your friends comments as long as they are for the good then it doesn't matter if they are going to listen or obey.

I think that varies a lot. Obviously there are soom teenagers that do not listen very much to their parents. Peer pressure may be very strong. I find it only natural that teenagers start to listen more to their friend as thay grow up. This is a part of preparing to move away froom home i belive. I do however think that parents that have treated their kids in a friendly respectful manner all along will have kids that listen more to them than other more strick and forceful parents. Kids only oppose you if there is a reason to.

yes ofcourse and from my experiance when i was a kid it was the same at a certain age i think it is very normal all of their life their parents are telling them what's right and what's wrong and what to do at some stage they look at their parents and see the age difference and they are also fed up with the things their parents tell them and they look at their friends which are at the same age or a bit order and they feel that those kids know better then their parents cause they live at the same generation there is also the stage that every kid has to rebel against his parents ..it is a stage that most kids have..so they are doing this by not listening to them or doing things against their parents wish it's normal..at the age of 17-18 usually things go back to be normal again

I think they definitely listen to their friends more because parents are seen as imposing rules on them and telling them to do the "uncool" thing.

I think parents are seen more as authority figures than anything else, but you can relate to your friends and have similar things going on, which i believe makes it much easier to listen to them.
