I live in Stockholm Sweden. Stockholm is, being a capital, a centre of the swedish administration, politics, commerce and new ideas. Stockholm is one of the most beautifull cities. It´s build on an archipelago (4-5 islands), so there is water all around. It lies just between a large lake Mälarn and the Baltic sea. In fact the lake JOINS the sea in the middle of the city (Stockholms ström). That is a smalish rapid from the lake which lies a bit higher down to the sea. We have lots of parks too. The Old town on its own island is built in 1500-1700 hundreds, the cellars and first floors of buildings are often from medieval times. The streets are narrow and shady. Outside the Old town the city is from 1800-1900 ´s. The CITY area is from 1950-1960´s. Stockholm is nowdays an international place with lots of immigrants living here. The largest immigrant groups are the russians and the finns. In the suburbs there is a large population of middleeastern people. The Royal Palace lies in the Old Town. The Parlament on it´s own small island between the Old Town and CITY centre. Sweden is a monarchy with a king. He is Carl den XVI Gustav. We have a couple of ethnic indigenious minorities in Sweden, namely the Sami people and the Finns. Both groups originate from the northern parts of Sweden. Besides there is a large population of finns who have emigrated here from neighboring finland. Skåne in the southernmost part of the country has its own identity and history as a part of denmark. Swedish troups took that aria to sweden at 1600 hundreds.
