I am no rocket scientist, I don't claim to know much about politics. But I just don't get why if the price of oil is down then WHY are gas prices going UP...Up...UP?
Here in San Diego Calif right now 87 Octane is about $3.07/ga today!
What is it in your city?

You know sometimes I think it is a nothing more than a big scam to try and get people to downgrade and get smaller cars. The government complains about global warming, high prices of oil, population growing at a rapid rate and I think if they had their way they want people to get rid of their SUV's and large vehicles and copy many countries in Europe where they use small compact vehicles and scotters/mopeds. So the way to force us to do this is, to keep raising the prices of gas so either we get so disgusted or we simply can't afford filling up large vehicles anymore and we are forced to downgrade.

Check out this site, you put in your zip code and it tells you who sells the cheapest gas in your area. http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstations.aspx?zip=&src=Netx

Our gas prices have shot up. I live in the New Orleans area and it has went from about $2 or just under to $2.38 for 87 octane in less then a month.

We were just having this discussion in our home recently. The prices are creeping back up there and not many are raising a stink over it. The prices are quite different here. I paid $2.59 a gallon in my state and crossed into the next to find the prices were $2.79 and up. It is crazy! I have to fill up today and can't wait to see what price awaits me.

I saw on the news this morning that the prices in California are the highest in the nation. I have always thought that the oil companies jack the prices up as soon as it is spring and more people hit the roads on trips after the winter is over. Then comes all the summer vacations where people travel and cover many miles and need gas.

The prices are ridiculous and they have been going up quickly in a short period of time. It is typical for prices to increase before Spring break but this year I think it started a little early. The 87 octane here is going for 3.04 to 3.19 average is about 3.08 yesterday. Back at the end of February prices were around 2.65 I have uploaded a picture that I took of a sign and the date can be clearly seen on it. Today that same station has it at 3.09.
I understand what you mean when you say you have a motor home and how expensive it is. I have a Dodge Ram pickup 2500 and it sucks down the gas as fast as I can put it in. I may have to think about getting a mini van again, it's just so much easier to haul things around in a truck and still have plenty of room for all to ride.:)
I think that their should be a law on how much one can profit off the backs of the American people. The oil companies have reported record profits for so long, I'm sorry hundreds of million dollars in profits is just ridiculous when some of us truly can't afford to just drive for necessities of life.
As always just my 2 cents worth.:)

let's see, we are at a range of $3.00 to all the way to $3.19 it just depends on where they are located and which gas company, 76 and Chevron tend to be at the high end here in Washington State.
Anyway, yeah, it makes no sense, we moved to the city so that we could have more ability to just walk around to get to places like the grocery store or dinner, or parks, schools and all that....so we are pretty okay with the gas issues. We are close to everything now so we do not spend as much on gas anymore.

Here in Colorado Springs, I think 87 octane is running about $2.69 per gallon at the moment.

Isn't it wild! Here in Alberta, the oil capitol of Canada, where we are speding on fuel to get the fuel we are not even getting a break.
Diesel fuel is more than gas and guess what all the oilfield trucks use...yup diesel. The oil companies here are playing games big time.
Now that their second quarter is starting they have to punish us again. Oil rig moving companies are also to blame. During the big push before Xmas they were charging and arm and a leg to get the rigs moved. They got a slap on the wrist during the 1rst quarter and not much drilling was going on.
Now spring is comming and reserves need to be built up again because the ground is too soft during the spring thaw. That ususally leaves 6 weeks of no drilling again.
We are all just caught up in the middle of politics and other nasty games.

It's the same here in Gridley, CA. It's getting ridiculous. It's to the point, since I'm home on disability and not doing much more than running my daughter to and from school, I'm letting my hubby take my car to work and I am keeping the truck. The big deal with that is that the stereo in the car is way better than the one in the truck! LOL. Oh well, now I get to be the intimidator instead of the intimidatee! Hehehehe!
