Slang is more like the improper use of a language, like "what's up", whereas an accent is the way a person speaks. An Indian person speaking english will sound different from an American speaking english, that is an example of an accent.

In both slang and accent, it has to do with culture of the area. Here's the difference. In the case of slang, the language has evolved, so words are not used in the purely correct sense. This is where you find idioms. In many cases, they are shortenned versions of something that is commenly said. In the case of what kliksini said, "whut's up dude", this used to be "what is happenning in your life now, friend" or something like that. Accent is not a change in the language use. It is a difference in pronunciation. Using long sounds, slightly different inflections and emphasis. Hope this helps.

For slang it is a word or phrase and how it is used. The phrase or word is usually not the acceptable form or meaning. It's been adjusted by the people in the area. An example of this would be "howdy" which means "Hi and how are you". Now with accent is with how it is pronounced. An example of this is the word "wash". For many it would be pronounced just as it is spelled but for some with an accent it sounds like they are saying "warsh". Different areas of the world can have accents and this effects how they say the words and how we hear them.
