Mnay european countries especially Britain and France have almost as many Asians and Africans as they have original Europeans . The competition for resources obviously must lead to resentment among the original people especially the poor . Is that an example of the sins of the colonial imperialistic past coming back to haunt Europe ? How do you feel about all the Africans and Indians who go to live and become citizens in the UK and France and Germany etc ?

The only main reasons I know why people migrate are for greener pastures and opportunity for development which they found lacking in their country of origin. Of course there are others and they are too numerous to mention. Most of them belong to the younger generations too whose understanding of history are no more than just subjects to be learned at schools and no emotional attachements whatsoever. The Philippines was greatly devastated by Japan during WW2 and some people who are their 80s now still harbor ill feelings but the younger ones are unmindful of this dark pages in history, going to Japan is money, that's all that matters. My sisters have migrated to the US, UK and Germany and they are all happy with their decisions and don't have any interest to come back. I have travelled and lived for a time in several countries and it is my impression that only a few are expressing sentiments like competition for resources. Immigrants are earning what they get and jobs that they do are not really in competition with the natives but more on complementing them. The world becoming more and more of a global village, time may come, that national boundaries might become superficial and the world will be a country where all men are citizens and resources belong to everybody. This may not happen in the near future but the shadow of things to come are already seen. That being said, it is understandable that the poor nationals will resent the presence of immigrants and feel that they are in competition in the appropriation of resources that otherwise should have been given to them.
