I was wondering what everyone thinks would make a good alternative fuel source, as I think it can be said now that we really do need one or more.
I would love to see hydrogen running in cars, personally.
A completely renewable source, and the only real bi-product being 100% water, which could, in turn, be turned around and made right back into fuel.
As for hydrogen being explosive, hello... gasoline is explosive too.. besides it isn't like the hydrogen would be combined with plutonium.
Also, in the event of a wreck and the 'tank' being compromised... the hydrogen being lighter than air would escape and fly into the atmosphere, which it wouldn't damage, and would greatly reduce the risk of a bad explosion since it would escape.
Whereas gasoline just spills and gets everywhere and has the ability to cause a massive explosion.
Any thoughts?

I would say... SOLAR energy! The sun is boring into our skins each day so why not make use of it? It is clean and if energy can be stored to be used in the night, why not? I think these cars are already available... slowly and increasing...

I just remembered something. Are you aware of a freestanding, self-sufficent hydrogen fuel station that is run off of Solar Power?
It requires nothing more than the sun and water to create the hydrogen fuel.
That being said, I have yet to see "Who killed the Electric Car?" so I don't know exactly the things you were talking about yet, but I would think that if solar power could separate the molecules, then that would be an excellent source.
I believe it was the Discovery channel that did a four part series about alternative fuel sources.
If you haven't seen that, I'd look to see when they'll re-run those, it was good. I'm sure that they'll compile them onto DVD and I can Netflix it to re-watch, I'll be damned if those things don't get me excited!
