How safely you keep your Credit cards

I am scared of my Credit crds security, and am afraid about the card number getting leaked.
Do you keep your Credit cards in extra security, or keep them ordinarily in such a place, where anyone can access easily? There have been many credit card scams that occur now and then, and come up in newspapers. Are you scared of them?
Sometimes many internet users receive fraud emails requesting for their credit card numbers. Many a times the online shopping sites also sell your credit card informations.

I am actually dooing away with credit cards. The security is a risk and the interest rates are just too high for me to have them anymore. I never really kept them hidden or anything. at one time I had over 40 different credit cards, but today I only have one and I plan to only use it as an emergency. I too am afraid the security factor is high right now.
