I Need Someone's Help. Can Someone Help Me With Meta Tags?

I'm learning about Meta Tags on my website. I am looking for someone who can describe what they are, how they are worded, where they are added and anything else that will educate me how to use them properly.
I'm blonde, so I need all the help I can get.

they are hidden HTML code
a few key words like a title
often peole will use the names of their competitors as metatags to bring business to them

I'm talking more about how to insert them through HTML on a webpage for traffic to a specific search engine.
Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

Meta tags are used to describe the contents of your page to search engines etc in the head section of the html code you place the meta tag code (I can't put an example here sorry) for things like the page title, content, keywords, location etc

Meta tags are insearted between the head tags.They are the keywords used by the search engines to find a website.They are chosen from the contents on your page.
