I can see in your family history that you'll have a much higher risk that you can get it too later in life. But I guess with a little discipline in the way you eat, constant exercise would prevent this disease from getting to you. I guess that is the best that you could do to prevent it this soon.

Well, Being that you know that you are susceptible to Diabetes, you are at least ahead of the game. Doctors can diagnose it early if you do get it, and you can work to stay in shape, eat healthy, etc with the knowledge that you are prone to it. One of the main factors that can lead to it is excessive weight. A healthy diet should be your 1st start if you don't already have one. Hope that helps. By the way, Welcome to Mylot. I try to have a healthy diet as i'm scared to have this disease. I will check out the site that you gave me. Thanks so much....Karen

The saying like "prevention is better than cure" is not applicable to this monster "diabetes" atleast. I mean we can't prevent this diabetes but we sure can controle our sugar level by so many ways. In addition to some medicines and insuline you can maintain your sugar level to a desired level by monitoring the callories consumed in a day. The long walk in the morning and evening certainly resolves this diabetes quite better is my wife's personal experience. she walks 4kms in the morning and 4kms in the evening, Of course I give a company to her for the walk. She takes only one jawar roti and a bowl of butter milk and some green salad in her both the meals in addition to 2 cups of tea without sugar in it. This diet has kept her healthy as well as controled sugar level too. Wish your a good health. All the best from oarnamav.
