I need to develop a behavior contract for a 6th grade student who refuses to come to school. This student has attended 4 days of school this year. The 4 days that he attended he was a model student. This student has been assessed and found not eligible for Special Education Services. This student becomes physical (hitting, biting) with mom when she tries to get him to school. Unfortunately, I know very little about this students except that he has had difficulty coming to school the last few years. This year he was placed at our school after moving from a nearby district (he was kicked out due to truancy). Apparently, we are not the home school and this student wants to go back to his home school which is in our district. Any suggestions??

There needs to be a functional behavior assessment (FBA) and then a Behavior support plan (BSP) put in place.
Does the student have an aide? That should be looked into.
I have a website with resources for behavior and IEP help:

The problem is not with the child. His parents need to decide wether or not he is to be home-schooled. They should evforce their decision. He shouldn't be making this decision.
