If I select a "best response", does that effectively "close" the discussion?

Since I'm new here, I still have a lot to learn, and I'm wondering if someone can help. If I select a "best response" in one of my discussions, does that pretty much end the likelihood of further responses? If so, what impact does that have on ratings, earnings, etc...if any? Thanks!

It won't close, but it will definitely affect the flow of your discussion. Because most people wouldn't waste their time in responding to a post with a chosen best response, some prefer to response to give their best and they prefer it a challenge if the topics are not yet with a best response mark. But for me, even if there's a best response chosen already, I still give my opinion. And I try to prove that mine's more better than the one's chosen!;)

Yep... So, even if yours IS better than the one chosen, that doesn't give you anything, does it? Thanks for the post.

no, i don't think so. marking 'best response' does not close any discussions. this mark will help the selected user mylot reputation ratings goes up.

Thanks for your helpful response. I notice all discussions are still 'active', whether the best response has been selected or not...so I guess they're "perpetual"? Thx again.

After selecting a best response the discussion will still remain open - I had a response to my first discussion - which was br 'd about 2 weeks ago - just yesterday!!! don't know if it affects ratings, I know some people don't like to respond after a br has been marked but most still will! It's all about experimenting I think! Good Luck and enjoy!
