Why do drunk driver's always get a lighter sentence? My friend's dad got a light sentence for drunk driving. He only got 2 years in prison. He was drunk and ended up hitting a 7 year old girl and she died from the injuries. Should they provide harsher punishment for drunk driver's? If so, what do you think?

Maybe because we can't deny the fact that there's a big possibility that the drunk driver did not intend to do such crime..If it's uninetentional, then the sentence is lighter.. He can't be totally responsible of something which he's not very much aware that he did.
